YouTube insider claims platform caters to liberal news network complaints

For years, conservative content producers have been sounding the alarm on a disturbing trend within the online community, and 2019 has brought at least some confirmation of their suspicions to light.

The election of Donald Trump in 2016 sent the liberal left into hysterics.  Some truly believed that disaster had struck, and that the downfall of modern American civilization was upon us.  Trump was a racist, a sexist, a fascist, or some combination of all three, and that only a carte-blanche “resistance” could counter his uncouth crown.

This spawned the fictional, (but just barely), affliction known colloquially as “Trump Derangement Syndrome” – a pervasive, progressive mindset that continues to this day.

While Facebook and Twitter are more often than not the subjects of these complaints of bias and censorship, YouTube has been far from innocent themselves, and the admissions of a whistleblower this week seem to confirm the suspicions of free speech advocates everywhere.

Google-owned YouTube manually adjusted search results for “Federal Reserve” after MSNBC host Chris Hayes complained about the prominence of anti-Fed videos in the top results, according to a source who worked at the tech company.

Google allegedlyadded the search term “Federal Reserve” to a “blacklist” file of “controversial” YouTube search queries. This caused search results for the term to be re-ranked to favor YouTube-approved mainstream media sources.

Breitbart News exclusively reported on the existence of the YouTube search blacklist in January and revealed that the term “abortion” had been added to it.

YouTube has hidden behind the same defense as Twitter and Facebook in recent months, claiming that their status as a private company allows them to ignore the American First Amendment.

Of course, this is simply a semantic excuse that ignores the reality of YouTube’s business model of taking user-created content and monetizing it for their own profit, sharing a small fraction of a percentage back to those whose hard work was responsible for the view counts in the first place.
