Will Conservatives Join This Defamation Lawsuit Against SPLC?

Finally!  A conservative Christian group has filed a defamation lawsuit against the Southern Poverty Law Center.

D. James Kennedy Ministries filed the lawsuit this week in federal court in Alabama after it was listed alongside neo-Nazis and white supremacists on SPLC’s “hate map.”

According to the suit, the group claims that the SPLC “illegally trafficked in false and misleading descriptions of the services” offered by the ministry, subjecting it to “disgrace, ridicule, odium, and contempt in the estimation of the public.”

“These false and illegal characterizations have a chilling effect on the free exercise of religion and on religious free speech for all people of faith,” said president and CEO Frank Wright.

The SPLC is not the only group named in the lawsuit.

Amazon and Guidestar also listed.

The ministry alleges that Amazon excluded it from its Amazon Smile Charitable-giving program and that Guidestar added and then removed the SPLC’s “hate group” tag from its listing.

The Washington Times reports:

A 44-year-old ministry based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, DJK is described as an “anti-LGBT” organization on the SPLC “hate map,” which has been blasted for listing mainstream conservative organizations alongside racist extremist groups the Ku Klux Klan and Aryan Nation.

“After having given the SPLC an opportunity to retract, we have undertaken this legal action, seeking a trial by a jury of our peers, to preserve our own rights under the law and to defend the religious free speech rights of all Americans,” Mr. Wright said.

The ministry released last month a DVD critical of the SPLC called “Profits of Hate,” saying the group has morphed from a legitimate civil-rights group to “slandering and demonizing Christian and conservative organizations.”

The lawsuit comes as the latest salvo in the battle over SPLC “hate map,” which lists 917 organizations.

Another conservative group tagged as “anti-LGBT,” the Alliance Defending Freedom, called last month for a retraction after ABC News picked up the “hate group” tag, citing the SPLC.

SPLC president Richard Cohen responded by saying that the ADF “spreads demonizing lies about the LGBT community in this country and seeks to criminalize it abroad. If the ADF had its way, gay people would be back in the closet for fear of going to jail.”

Jerry Boykin, vice president of the Family Research Council and a former Army Delta Force commander, applauded the DJK ministry for “its effort to expose the truth about the Southern Poverty Law Center.”

“The SPLC is an organization that is an attack dog of the Left, they are not a neutral arbiter that is calling balls and strikes,” said Mr. Boykin in a statement. “They are on the field playing, pushing an agenda, and anyone who opposes them is slandered and slapped with a hate label.”

The FRC added, “The SPLC is inciting hatred against Christians, which has already led to violence. It needs to stop.”

That’s because the SPLC is an actual hate group, not a fabricated one.

Just because people oppose redefining marriage, sodomy, lesbianism, trangenderism, abortion, adultery and a host of other sins and crimes does not make them a hateful person.  It actually makes them a loving person.

In fact, it’s interesting that those who tell people the truth often become their enemy.

In addressing the believers in Galatia about the lies of the Judaizers, the apostle Paul told them the truth about the Messiah and real faith and who the real children of Abraham are and who the real Israel of God is, and he asked this question:

Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth? -Galatians 4:16

Consider this America.  The SPLC are the metaphorical Judaizers and they have been lying to you for a long time.

In fact, this was part of the point that Robert Spencer pointed out earlier this week concerning an article by ProPublica that featured an attack on SonsofLibertyMedia.com and one of my articles there.

Spencer wrote of ProPublica:

“They will not rest until every one of the names on SPLC’s dubious 900-member hate list is purged from the Internet. Make no mistake.”

Indeed. But is it possible that the SPLC made a mistake, or added in some groups based on political motives? Why, of course not: the SPLC is infallible in matters of “hate groups”:

Note what they didn’t do? They didn’t actually read the sites to verify they were ‘hate sites.’

What we are seeing happening is a quintessentially fascist, totalitarian enterprise, advancing rapidly with no pushback.

That’s exactly right, and neither have the SPLC, whom I might add, have a founder, Morris Dees, that defended the Ku Klux Klan.

Now, here is the question for all my conservative friends who find themselves on the SPLC’s hate list, will you seek to join in this lawsuit against the SPLC and let’s put them completely out of business in the manner they are attempting to do to you?  I’m aboard!
