A Georgia police officer was faced with a difficult situation Monday: What do you do when an unarmed naked man charges you?
A white, seven-year veteran of DeKalb County Police fired two fatal shots at a naked, unarmed black man. The man, identified as Anthony Hill, allegedly charged the officer and ignored orders to stop,WSBTV-2 reports.
The naked man can be seen on video exhibiting strange behavior outside an apartment complex before he was shot.
“The caller reported a male acting deranged, knocking on doors and crawling around on the ground naked,” DeKalb County Police Chief Dr. Cedric Alexander said in a press conference.
Police responded to a 911 call about the man and found him naked in the parking lot. The man allegedly ran at a police officer, who stepped back and commanded him to stop before firing two shots. The man died at the scene.
Police say no weapon was recovered at the scene and that the man was apparently unarmed. The officer involved is on paid leave while the Georgia Bureau of Investigation looks into the case.
