As we learn ever more about the deadly COVID-19 virus that has plagued our modern world, some of the long-held myths regarding the illness are falling to pieces.
While this may be a minor annoyance for many who are tasked with staying up-to-date for the safety of themselves and their loved ones, it demonstrates that our medical professionals are making progress in the fight against the virus. This progress comes despite the inaccurate data that was provided by Chinese officials, whose motive for this deception has not yet been officially determined.
One of the major changes to the way we handle this strain of coronavirus will come in the form of face masks, which were previously not recommended for use for those who weren’t already sick. Now, after careful review, the White House appears ready to adjust that guidance.
Vice President Mike Pence addressed the potential for a mask advisory based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at Thursday’s daily briefing on the pandemic.
He said the new guidance, based on “consultation and advice from the CDC and top health experts,” would come “in the days ahead.”
The distinction of specifying “cloth” face masks will also reduce the strain on the medical mask supply in the United States; something that has been quite a subject of debate as of late.
