Twitter Prepares to Censor 5G-Coronavirus Conspiracy Theories

There is something just inherently filthy about a company whose entire platform is built on the free speech of their users turning around and censoring those same users.

Twitter could very well be one of the most powerful inventions of this digital age.  It allows for near instantaneous contact with the global community, and can be used by the people to organize and protest the sorts of thing that the powers that be might otherwise not allow.

Now amid a growing trend of suspicion surrounding 5G cellular service, Twitter is assuming the role of online tyrant and restricting users from commenting on the widely-held conspiracy theory.

The move follows social media calls that have resulted in attacks on 5G towers in some European countries.

Twitter’s update is the latest in an effort by social media platforms to curb rampant misinformation about the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a blog post, Twitter said it was refining its policy to deal with the latest incidents.

It will remove “unverified claims” what could lead to the destruction or damage of critical infrastructure, “widespread panic, social unrest, or large-scale disorder,” the statement said.

And while the whole idea that 5G cell phone towers are somehow connected to a viral pandemic might be a bit silly, here in America we have the absolute right to say whatever we wish…no matter how “silly” someone may think that it is.
