Trump Team Will Not Participate in Wednesday Hearing, Citing Democratic Shenanigans

The Democratically led impeachment of Donald J. Trump moves forward this week into the House Judiciary Committee, where longtime Trump critic Jerry Nadler will hold the gavel.

Hearings are set to begin on Wednesday, as this new cadre of Democratic lawmakers look to sway the American people to their side of the argument, believing themselves that President Trump has committed some egregious act that warrants such a stagnating and fruitless political process.

The light at the end of the tunnel for Trump is that there is a near zero percent chance that the Senate will vote to remove him from office, making this entire process nothing more than a free, long form 2020 campaign ad for the Democratic Party.

As such, the President and his lawyers have decided that they will not be participating in Wednesday’s antics.

In a letter to Chairman Jerrold Nadler, White House counsel to the President Pat Cipollone said, “We cannot fairly be expected to participate in a hearing while the witnesses are yet to be named and while it remains unclear whether the Judiciary Committee will afford the President a fair process through additional hearings. More importantly, an invitation to an academic discussion with law professors does not begin to provide the President with an semblance of a fair process. Accordingly, under the current circumstances, we do not intend to participate in your Wednesday hearing.”

Cipollone accused the New York Democrat in the letter of “no doubt purposely” scheduling the hearing while Trump will be at a NATO meeting in London.

Cipollone said they would respond separately to the Friday deadline about their participation in future hearings.

This isn’t the first time that the Democrats have been accused of employing underhanded tactics during the impeachment process, as House Intel Committee Chairman Adam Schiff was consistently lambasted by his Republican colleagues for the secrecy of the previous proceedings.
