In nearly five hundred days, this nation will once again head to the polls in order to to cast their votes for President, and it will undoubtedly be an historic election.
Donald Trump, in his first term alone, has produced a political awakening of sorts, bombastically and dramatically changing the media landscape around him. The enthusiasm that his supporters have for the man and his message is ferocious at times, and infectious.
Now, as this fateful election approaches, the Trump campaign is flexing its fundraising muscle, and taking a shot at their democratic opponents in the meantime.
President Donald Trump together with the Republican National Committee has raised $105 million in the second quarter, the campaign announced Tuesday.
“Our massive fundraising success is a testament to the overwhelming support for President Trump,” Campaign manager Brad Parscale said. “No Democrat candidate can match this level of enthusiasm or President Trump’s outstanding record of results.”
This fundraising haul far outweighs anything that we’ve seen on the democratic side of the election by leaps and bounds.
The only question now is whether or not republican wealth is tipping the scales against democratic participation in electoral fundraising. Could this be a case of larger and fewer donations to Trump due to the median age of his supporters, with the democrats’ millennia baristas donating much small amounts but with a more widespread pool?
There’s only one way to find out, and it’s still 489 days away.
