News outlets around the country have reported on and continue to report on the shooting incident Saturday night at Delaware State University. Photos indicate that thousands were in attendance.
The shooting was reported around 8 PM Saturday at a fraternity/sorority cookout. Later that evening (1:15 AM Sunday), more shots rang out at a nearby university courtyard, but no one was reported injured.
The victims of the shooting were taken to a nearby hospital and are said to be in stable condition. Their names have not been released. University spokesman Carlos Holmes said, "We directed our students to get into their dormitories and stay there, and we directed outsiders to get off of our campus at this point."
The report I just cited was published at 12:05 PM Sunday the 19th by USA Today. I purposely left something out that was pertinent to the report and I'll get to that shortly.
I don't know why this story interested me, but it did enough to look for additional details. What I found was all too predictable and disappointing pertaining to other mainstream media outlets.
The first time I happened upon was in an AP report via Yahoo! News.
It basically said the same thing USA Today wrote but added this useful factoid: "Delaware State University is a historically black university that has more than 4100 full and part-time students." Now what possible difference does that make unless they are trying to inject race into the shooting by maybe making people think that a white shot blacks. In my estimation, there is no other reason for injecting that factoid. Nowhere was a description of the assailant. By the way - the AP piece was published at 3:47 PM, a full 3 to 4 hours after the USA Today post.
Next up - People.com. They wrote, "School spokesperson Carlos Holmes declined to say whether any suspects have been identified, according to the news Journal, and it's unclear if those involved, including the victims, are DSU students." Again - no description of the shooter.
After reading these two additional posts, I had an ah-ha moment. Neither of these reports have a description of the shooter. Maybe there isn't one, you might say. So on to a transcript of ABC's Good Morning America, posted at 7:27 AM. It was completely useless and again contained no details of the shooter.
How about the Huffington Post? Surely they will give me the straight, unbiased scoop. Nope - but like the AP, they had to add that Delaware State is a historically black college.
All right - back to USA Today. They reported, "At about 1:30 AM school officials sent out an alert notifying students that shots were fired at 1:15 AM and also released a description of a suspect. Police were looking for a black man with short dreadlocks, 5 feet 9 to 5 feet 11 and wearing a tan and blue long-sleeved T-shirt and white sneakers, according to the alert. The suspect was driving a dark colored four-door vehicle."
Well, blow me down! At 1:15 Sunday morning, a full description was released for all to see, read, and report on. Huh.
That night university president Harry L. Williams said, "The safety of our students continues to be paramount in our police will aggressively continue their investigation until an arrest or arrests are made in this shooting incident."
Got all that? So there was, in fact, a proper and accurate description of the shooter. He just happened to be a black man. And with a proper description of the shooter, the police might enlist the assistance of the public, unless all they read is the mainstream press, save for USA Today. Maybe Mr. Williams should alert the press that a proper description of the shooter might help the safety of his students.
This, to me, looks purposeful. Because the shooter is black, all (excluding USA Today) these outlets did what they always do - ignore the facts to the potential detriment and possible further harm to others by not disclosing the proper information. It's the same thing they do when a Democrat politician runs afoul of the law. Nowhere in a mainstream media story will you ever find that said politician is a Democrat - just that he or she is a Senator or Congressman or the like. But this time, by not disclosing the description of the shooter so that someone may report seeing him, it may actually get someone else hurt or killed.
This is just another example of the agenda-driven media who no longer report the facts unless it fits their narrative.Don't forget to Like Freedom Outpost on Facebook, Google Plus, & Twitter. You can also get Freedom Outpost delivered to your Amazon Kindle device here.
