Jonathon Dunne has aspirations of living the American Dream. His family has had some strong ties to the Republican Party and the Conservative movement. His aunt worked in Ronald Reagan campaigns in Florida in the '80s. Currently he is pursuing a degree in International Relations, specializing in American Studies in Ireland. He is not an American citizen, but has been trying to get a green card for nine years. Recently he called into speak with Mark Levin about his situation and the current immigration schemes being put forth by Democrats and Republicans.
Dunne writes at Young Patriots,
Because this is an issue that affects me greatly, I had to call in and I was very lucky to be able to discuss a few points with the Great One – Mr. Levin, himself. I personally have a massive problem with granting an illegal worker a permanent visa because America has laws and those laws need to be respected. The biggest issue, to me, is the fact that 11 million people will skip the line in front of people like me who have waited 9 years to get a visa… and still waiting. To put that number in perspective, the American government awards 50,000 DV visas every year. I could wait a lifetime and still never get to achieve my dream, but someone who has broken the law gets to live the dream every day.
While Rubio insists that we will all be on the same level, the law of possession will come into play. Does anyone really believe that the US government is going to deport someone illegal just so I can come into the country? That will never work.
The other issue I addressed on Levin’s show was the message conservatives need to communicate going forward. Republicans like John McCain keep saying Republicans need this reform to win another election. THEY ARE WRONG. Three little words will lead to a win: THE AMERICAN DREAM!
When was the last time you heard this mentioned? The country where if you worked hard, you could become anything you wanted and could achieve anything. No one could stop you or get in the way.
Dunne went on to say exactly what I have been thinking:
"The answer to tyranny is not less tyranny – its Liberty and Freedom."
While not necessarily being a huge fan of Levin, I am now a fan of Dunne. It's great to see a guy that understands opportunity and freedom. It's also great to see from the perspective of a person that is attempting to follow the law, not break it in order to pursue the American Dream. Unfortunately, people like some of the current Senators and Congressmen, along with the current occupant of the White House want to completely ignore the law and reward lawbreakers with citizenship, while those choosing to follow the law are sidestepped for that past nine years!
Personally, I agree with Michelle Malkin's Tweet this morning:
I value the 4.6 mil LEGAL immigrant applicants to US waiting to get in the right way over the "11 million living in the shadows."

Something is clearly wrong with this picture. One person wrote on Levin's Facebook wall:
The plan to provide amnesty for illegals is fundamentally flawed. Obama doesn't follow our laws so we can't trust him to keep any agreement or enforce the laws that are passed. Furthermore, the "secure the border" demand is unenforceable.
We need to require that:
1) Illegal immigration be a felony with severe punishment with severe punishments for those that provide aid and fail to enforce the law.
2) The constitution be amended to prevent illegals babies from becoming US citizens.
3) All law enforcement agencies be legally required to enforce the immigration laws with a large group dedicated to pursue illegals.
These are great ideas. In fact, they are better ideas than those currently being proposed, but understanding that this is not just about Barack Obama and the Democrats should be a moment of epiphany on the issue of immigration.
