Target Does Away with Gender Labels – The Feminization of Men

As the women’s liberation and the transgender revolution sweep America, there were certain things that we should have expected.  Young girls are seeking to use the men’s room and things of that nature, and we have seen just that.  But now, we are seeing a trend that should trouble us, and that is a move to erase all gender lines.

The Chicago Tribune reports:

Two months ago, an Ohio mom’s tweet went viral when she called out Target for separating “building sets” and “girls’ building sets.” Now, the retailer is fixing the problem: for building sets and all toys, plus bedding, home decor, entertainment and more.

What this means is that there will no longer be a girls and boys section in Target.  Do you want to find bedding for your son?  Well, you have to search the entire bedding section.  Toys for Tina, well, you can search through all the toys.  The ones for boys and for girls.

Bloomberg reports:

Target Corp. is removing gender labels from most of its children’s departments after customers complained about signs designating certain toys for girls.

The kids’ bedding section will no longer feature boy and girl signage, and the toy department will be without labels and pink or blue paper on the shelves, Minneapolis-based Target said on its website Friday. Gender labels will remain in the kids’ clothing section because of sizing and fit differences.

What the retailer is seeking to do is to follow with what seems to be the norm in society.  This woman in Ohio decided that it was oppressive to have building sets for girls.  She feels that she is being restricted, or her daughter is restricted by these designations.

Bloomberg continued:

In June, Ohio mom Abi Bechtel called out Target’s gender designations in its toy aisle. She posted a photo to Twitter that showed store signs for “Girls’ Building Sets” next to regular “Building Sets.” The outcry was swift, with angry shoppers calling for change.

“It stood out to me as a good example of the way our culture tends to view boys and men as the default, normal option and girls and women as the specialized option,” Bechtel told CNN at the time.

Bechtel’s take on this situation was that since the girls had their own special set, they were not normal.  But, that is not the problem at all.  It is that most girls do not wish to play with those building sets.  The specialized set was an accommodation.  But, this never entered her mind.  The reason is that Bechtel does not believe in gender differences.

The Chicago Tribune reports:

Abi Bechtel, the mom who tweeted about the building sets aisle, has seen firsthand that this isn’t just a problem for girls. Her three sons, ages 7, 9 and 12, used to have no problem picking out or playing with dolls. These days, they’ll say “Eww, I’m not going in that aisle, that’s girl stuff.”

“And we just have to have those conversations, that you can play with anything you want to,” Bechtel said Sunday. “And, there’s nothing wrong with girl stuff.”

That is exactly right, well, unless we call it girl stuff.  You see, they wish to make us all the same.  We wear the same clothes and grow up playing with the same things.  They want to make men feminine because feminine is better.  What will they do when their sons are too concerned about playing mom to protect the family?
