This has been quite a week in Maryland. The benighted legislature in Annapolis passed a bill on Thursday allegedly to protect transgenders from discrimination when in reality is gives them legal cover under the color of law to walk into the bathroom of the opposite sex, or the locker room or even the showers. Who does this discriminate against? Anyone who follows God’s moral order, which is the laws of the universe as created by Him, He made them male and female and made no other.
In this same week actually on that same day, while that attack on our God given rights was taking place in Annapolis, Maryland one of our friends in Carroll County, Maryland Commissioner Robin Frazier, took a principled stand against the ungodly and unconstitutional ruling of Federal District Court Judge Quarles, who, on Tuesday, signed a preliminary injunction to keep the commissioners from continuing their practice of saying prayers which invoke the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. The injunction stated that commissioners will be allowed to make prayers at meetings, but cannot invoke “the name of a specific deity associated with any specific faith or belief.” In other words, he forbid them from praying in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
That is rather odd don’t you think because how much authority has been given to Jesus Christ according to Matthew 28? (All) And in what realms has that authority been granted to Him? (In Heaven and on Earth). So to tell an elected official that they cannot acknowledge our Lord Jesus Christ, the one to whom all authority belongs, is to deny that the so-called civil government has any authority at all.
That judge put an irrational opinion on paper and demanded that it be obeyed. Kind of reminds you of the situation that put Daniel in the lion’s den (Daniel 6). You’ll recall he was forbidden to pray to the one true God for 30 days by an irrational ruler who thought he, the king, was god.
So this past Thursday morning, Commissioner Robin Frazier opened up Carroll County Board of Commissioners budget meeting with a prayer containing references to our Lord Jesus Christ. It was a prayer, not of her own words, but which came from a prayer book attributed, by some to George Washington. The prayer included references to Jesus Christ, Lord, our Father, merciful Father and the Holy Spirit. Commissioner Frazier said she was willing to go to jail to fight the preliminary injunction ruling. We pray to the one True God that her sheriff would do his duty and prevent such a travesty from ever taking place in his county. I called Commissioner Frazier’s offices Friday morning to commend her and encourage her and to pray for her.
What is apparent is that our Federal Government, of whom Judge Quarles is but one example, is opposed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Was it not the acknowledgment of His name that caused our friend Chief Justice Roy Moore to be removed from office? And now in Carroll County His holy name is forbidden from prayers to open local government meetings. What is going on here?
When the civil government denies the Lordship of Jesus Christ, it asserts that it, the civil government itself, is greater than Him – that it is above Him and that its own so-called laws, not His Law, are the laws that must be obeyed. So the Federal Government has made itself into a wretched beastly idol in our day. What you have then is the very essence of tyranny. Obey the tyrant’s so-called law even when it requires you to disobey the Law of the One True God.
I appreciate Commissioner Frazier, for she followed Luke 12:8-9, which explains: “Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God: But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.” Praise God for Commissioner Fraizer, who refused to deny her Lord and Savior.
