I ran across a video from a gentleman in Canada as he looked at facts versus propaganda on the issue of speed limits. For a long time I have thought the issue of "speed enforcement" was designed by insurance companies and law enforcement, not for safety, but to extort money from citizens. This guy nails it and provides evidence to back up his claims.
Now, let me warn those with short attention spans. This video is about fifteen minutes long, but the guy includes a number of film and cartoon clips that will keep you interested, plus it makes total sense. During the gentleman's investigation of the culture and science surrounding speed enforcement in BC, coupled with my trademark Simpsons, Supertroopers, and Family Guy references. He even threw in a Jurassic Park reference.
The issue is not that speed kills, but when the speed limits are set artificially low, and enforcement is targeted to those areas where the limit is far below traffic speed, then all the speed kills campaign does is keep drivers complacent about paying fines that don't improve safety.
I'll warn some of my readers up front that there are a few choice words in the video, but the point is clear. This is well worth fifteen minutes of your time to be informed, and while it is from Canada, it applies in the US, as well. Enjoy!
