In this era of heightened political catastrophe, the American people must remain on high alert.
We find ourselves turning against our countrymen, our neighbors, and even our families. Civility has turned so sour that there will soon be a glut of articles appearing in pseudo-news outlets regarding how best to deal with your kin and their political beliefs around the Thanksgiving table.
Is that not sad to anyone else? Does that not make us, as Americans, embarrassed for how far this has gone?
For some, however, embarrassment is not the most pressing issue with our national behavior. For the men and women of the Secret Service, this incivility among the populace has a very real, very frightening gravity to it.
This was made clear once again this morning.
The incident happened around 6 a.m. at an external checkpoint, the Secret Service said. The driver, whose identity has not been made public, tried to tail an official vehicle through the gate.
The Secret Service Uniformed Division Officers stopped the vehicle and immediately took the driver into custody, the agency said. D.C. Police and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team also responded.
The story turned even more bizarre, however.
The SUV accumulated $1,355, in parking violations from streets around the White House since Oct. 10, ABC7 reporter Sam Sweeney tweeted. The 17 tickets included several illegal parking citations.
As always, the work of the Secret Service is both difficult and dutiful, and in these trying times the organization is under an incredible amount of pressure. Hats off to those who continue to serve in the line of potential fire at the side of the President.Don't forget to Like Freedom Outpost on Facebook and Twitter, and follow our friends at RepublicanLegion.com.
