Donetsk is a large industrial city, and there the pro-Russian protestors took over the city’s administration building. The use of small water cannons was not enough to keep the mob out, as they broke windows and literally ripped the doors off the building, dragging those inside, out into the streets.

According to RT, as the Ukraine flags were taken down and Russian flags were raised above the building, small white flags of surrender were flown out the windows of the administration building. This tweet shows how protesters scaled the outside of buildings pulling down the Ukrainian flag and raising a Russian flag in its place.

Demonstrations are also being held in other cities as well. Thousands gathered with Russian and Soviet flags in Odessa, the third-largest city Ukraine. According to police, around 5,000 people took part in the gathering, while organizers insist there were up to 20,000.
