Romney for Presidential Candidate Points to GOP Lack of Hope in 2016

It is hard to believe that we are facing another presidential primary season. It is even harder to believe that the GOP has such a bad field of candidates. Many of the same names which were in the race for the nod in 2012 are back. The same candidates who proved to be mere flashes in the pan or who were unable to raise the money are now in the running.

One name that troubles me more than most is that of Mitt Romney. I cannot understand Huckabee, but with the weak field, why not? But Mitt again? Really? I wish that I could say that it was because he is a Polytheist Idolater. He is, and that is a good reason to not vote for him, but this is not the only reason.

Just think of the many stances he has taken and then reversed. He was not for reversing Roe v. Wade; then, when the conservative base turned on him, he was pro-life. He wrote and passed Massachusetts state-mandated healthcare. Then, when facing Obama, he wants to stand against Obamacare.

Besides that, he is not the kind of strong, unflinching leader that our country so desperately needs. In the face of the Islamic threat, is Mitt Romney the man you want making decisions? Yes, he is better than Hillary or any of the other Democrats. This does not make him qualified to run for the highest office in the land. If this is the only criteria for running, then I could name three men and a cat that would be better than the Democrats.

Not only this, but Romney cannot even take a stand on whether or not he is going to run. Several times over the last year, he had unequivocally stated that he would not make a run. His wife confirmed this by telling the L.A. times: “Mitt and I are done. Completely. … Not only Mitt and I are done, but the kids are done. Done. Done. Done.” Not so done after all.

According to Fox, Mitt is looking to throw his hat in the ring once again. He announced this in a meeting Friday. The meeting was with 30 former donors in Manhattan. A senior adviser who was at the meeting told Fox that he said: “Everybody in here can go tell your friends that I’m considering a run.”

“Why?” would be a good response. Think about the state of our country back in ’12. We had historically high unemployment, and no hope of real recovery on the horizon. There was still the bad taste from the healthcare battle, and questions of corruption and bad leadership from the Whitehouse. It was the 1980 elections all over again, except this time Carter wins. If he could not win in such a political climate then, why think he can do so now? The reason is the state of the GOP. There is no one else.

If this is the state of the GOP, it is worse than we could have imagined. If a two-time loser and a bad talk show host is the best they can do, it looks like four more years of socialist policy and legislative gridlock are on the way.
