Americans are conditioned to crawl into a closet and hide from "The Boogy-Man." What Americans fear the most in the very dark corners of their souls is the unknown. What we truly fear is "They" and "Them." We do not know exactly who "They" are, but we do know that we do not want to run afoul of "Them."
Recent events have helped to give a face to "Them"; the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department Of Justice, etc. In short, what We The People fear most is our own government; at all levels. I have had countless conversations with local business persons who strongly support the conservative cause, but fear for the health of their business should they stand up and speak out. I do not blame or criticize them; defense of family must come first and foremost in all of our lives.
Some of us would blame the DSIC (Dip-S***-In-Charge) in the White House. Others would point fingers at Whore House Harry Reid who refuses to allow a vote on any bill that does not meet his personal approval. Yet, others would blame the "Top Cop in the Land," Attorney General Eric Holder, who flaunts his disdain for our Constitution and recent Supreme Court rulings. All of these points of view have merit.
Personally, I blame "The Press"; "The Fourth Estate." The Fourth Estate is a social or political force or institution whose influence is not consistently or officially recognized. "Fourth Estate" most commonly refers to the news media; especially print journalism or "the press."
Most Americans cannot name a single person who qualifies as a "member of the press" at the national level; unless of course they are fans of the Fox News Channel. Yes, I am a day or two older than dirt, so my references predate the Internet by a year or so; many may not have even heard of the shining stars - in my world - who were the absolute jewels in the crown of journalism of my youth.
There are but a very few true professional journalists who will always hold a place of reverence in my mind and my heart.
First and foremost, is a name that none have ever heard of: Jim Raglin of the then Lincoln Journal. His courage and conviction saved my life in the fall of 1977. Jim was inducted into the Nebraska Press Association's Hall of Fame in 1992.
On the national stage there was Walter
Cronkite, who served as anchorman at CBS News for nineteen years. He was often cited as "the most trusted man in America." Who comes anywhere near deserving such a title today?
Perhaps my own personal "hero" in the world of journalism was Edward R. Murrow, also an earlier alumni of the then fledgling CBS News Empire. I think of him as a hero because of his commitment to the truth in total disregard for his own well-being. For those who are not familiar with his career, Ed Murrow was a young American-born reporter assigned by CBS to cover WW-II from the London office. Unbeknownst to him, he had risen to star status by the time he returned to America after the war. I think of him in such terms as "hero" because at the pinnacle of his career he chose to take on one of the most powerful and feared political figures of that time, Senator Joseph McCarthy, and brought to an end one of the darkest periods of American politics...and his esteemed position in the vaulted world of American Journalism.
Our founders were blessed with having experienced every form of bad government that man had ever imposed on their fellow man. These were men of honor and integrity who understood that their most powerful weapon against evil, abuse of power and every manner of corruption is the light of day. They depended on those members of the press to possess the same degree of honor, integrity, and courage to fulfill their roles as guardians of the truth.
Those days are gone. Gone are the men and women of honesty, integrity and courage that once endowed the professional journalist as the most honored and revered members of our society. Now we have a community of talking heads strictly controlled by rigid guardians of political correctness and regime propaganda.
One must wonder - Are these people willing co-conspirators hell bent on destroying this country in a pathetically futile attempt to force the adoption of a social norm that has been proven unworkable time and time again? Or are these people just gutless creatures scurrying around in dark corners hiding in fear of retribution from the minions of evil who are the arms of enforcement for this illegal regime; i.e. the IRS, the FCC, and the DOJ?
To quote Edward R. Murrow:
"No one can terrorize a whole nation, unless we are all his accomplices."
Most agree that "Freedom is not free!" The road to freedom is a difficult road to travel; requiring a constant and high level of maintenance.
To quote Edward R. Murrow again:
"Difficulty is the excuse history never accepts."
Our modern age has brought us the epitome of "Good News / Bad News" jokes. It is called the Internet. The good news is that the illegal regime in Washington has not yet mustered the audacity to attempt to shut it down; at least not yet. The bad news is that sometimes well intentioned people abuse the freedom offered by the Internet to contrive ridiculous and sometimes obscene information out on the Internet to attack the regime. A falsehood is a falsehood regardless of the intention behind it.
To quote Edward R. Murrow again:
"American traditions and the American ethic require us to be truthful, but the most important reason is that truth is the best propaganda and lies are the worst. To be persuasive we must be believable; to be believable we must be credible; to be credible we must be truthful. It is as simple as that."
One week from today the battle for the soul of this country will begin in earnest. We have been given the gift of ObamaCare as a weapon of mass destruction against the dark forces of socialism and communism.
The battle is ours to lose and the Conservative forces have proven themselves amazingly adept at doing just that - losing winnable battles.
Our greatest weapon is the pure and unadulterated TRUTH. History is on our side. The Republican Party was formed around a single plank platform: the abolition of slavery.
Arguably the greatest Republican of our times was Dr. Martin Luther King; not necessarily the most loved, given the circumstances, but the one man who turned the course of this nation without resorting to violence.
We should not forget that the much hated and feared Knights of the Klu Klux Klan was spawned as the semi-official arm of the Democratic Party which at the time was called the LIBERAL party.
Given the history of these two parties, how did we end up here?
We got here via "The Great Lie", the most powerful political weapon ever conceived by evil men. The expression was coined by Adolf Hitler, when he dictated his 1925 book Mein Kampf, about the use of a lie so "colossal" that no one would believe that someone "could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously.
This is exactly what the Democrats have done to counter the conservatives in this country.
There have been any number of variations of "the big lie" doctrine, perhaps the most famous being: "If you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it, and you will even come to believe it yourself"; often misattributed to Joseph Goebbels - Adolph Hitler's minister of propaganda.
The Democrats have stayed closest to their original party doctrine: subjugation of the masses.
The Democrats were defeated by a post-Civil War Republican congress who passed the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments to the Constitution; the backbone of Civil Rights legislation. In order to maintain their cheap labor pool the Democrats (then Liberals) spawned the Knights of the Klu Klux Klan (KKKK) to accomplish via terror, intimidation and murder what they could not accomplish via legislation. When black Americans moved in droves out from under the thumb of the Dixiecrats and their KKKK, the Liberals resorted to "entitlements" (at the cost of their freedom) to keep labor on the plantations and have followed that approach since.
Republicans have been persuaded to join the hegemony of corrupt elitists; interested only in maintaining their positions of power so long as this nation may survive.
We The People have been sold out by our once strongest ally: the once free and objective press - The Forth Estate.
The press is no longer free. Whether they sold out willingly or have capitulated to pressure to direct or indirect threats from the current regime, we may never know, but we do know that the mass media is no longer relevant and cannot be viewed as anything more than the official propaganda machine for the regime.
Those who hold the reins of power have murdered the integrity of a once free and honorable press.
It is incumbent upon We The People to pick up the torch of freedom and restore a powerful Forth Estate in the social networks and all other means of modern communications; committed to truth without reservation or fabrication.
To borrow from Edward R. Murrow one last time:
To be persuasive we must be believable; to be believable we must be credible; to be credible we must be truthful. It is as simple as that."
Pandering for votes will no longer suffice. Taking direction from the establishment elitists in Washington only guarantees defeat.
If we wish to return the Reins of Power to their rightful owners, We The People, then we must resurrect Integrity; integrity in our candidates, integrity in our elected officials at every level. The Democrats have given us limitless ammunition to win this war if we will only unite, use the truth to our advantage, create a truthful message and keep repeating it until it become the truth for this nation once again.Don't forget to Like Freedom Outpost on Facebook, Google Plus, & Twitter.
