Yes you read the headline right. The RNAACP (Racist National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) required the media to present government issued photo identification and and second form of identification in order to enter the NAACP National Convention at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, TX to hear Attorney General Eric “Stonewaller” Holder.
Why is this such a big deal? The big deal is that Holder’s DOJ and the NAACP have explicitly gone after voter ID laws, even suing states, like Texas, because they claim that it is not fair and discriminatory. While I understand that this is not a time for voting, the claims of both the DOJ and the NAACP have been that it is a right to vote. They have believed this so strongly that they took it up with the United Nations.
Well let me educate them a bit. There is also a right to freedom of the Press. It’s called the First Amendment.
According to a press release via Townhall.com, the NAACP wrote, “All media must present government-issued photo I.D. (such as a driver’s license) as well as valid media credentials. Members of the media must RSVP to receive press credentials at http://action.naacp.org/page/s/registration. For security purposes, media check-in and equipment set up must be completed by 7:45 a.m. CDT for an 8:00 a.m. CDT security sweep. Once the security sweep is completed, additional media equipment will NOT be permitted to enter and swept equipment will NOT be permitted to exit.”
NAACP and CEO Ben Jealous, or probably he should have best been named “Been Jealous,” took to the stage prior to Holder’s speech and took shots at the voter ID laws which he claims are nothing more than discriminatory voter suppression.
“We must overwhelm the rising tide of voting suppression with the high tide of registration and mobilization and motivation and protection,” he said. “Simply put, the NAACP will never stand by as any state tries to encode discrimination into law.”
Texas is one of at least ten states that have implemented voter ID laws, which require voters to present a government issued photo id in order to vote and Eric Holder opposes State’s Rights in this area.
“Our democracy is literally under attack from within. We have wealthy interests seeking to buy elections and when that ain’t enough, suppress the vote,” Jealous said. “There is no battle that is more important or urgent to the NAACP right now than the battle to preserve democracy itself.”
I’m wondering when Jealous and Holder will get around to crying so loudly about government issued photo IDs and backgrounds checks so that people can exercise their Second Amendment rights without government interference. We at least know that Holder is pretty tight lipped when it comes to the issue of guns and government, so let’s not hold our breath.Don't forget to Like Freedom Outpost on Facebook and Twitter, and follow our friends at RepublicanLegion.com.
