Incoming New York congresswoman and self-proclaimed Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said she was puzzled by a question about how to pay for things like free college tuition and free Medicare for all and mocked those people who see the obvious economic problems with such nonsense. However, in Ocasio-Cortez's mind, she thinks, well "you just pay for it."
OK, let's just get this out on the table now. If one "just pays for it," it's not really free, is it? Someone is paying for "it," whether it's welfare or some government entitlement that makes you dependent upon government for your money or healthcare.
During an interview with Jorge Ramos on Monday, Ocasio-Cortez said, “People often say, like, how are you going to pay for it? And I find the question so puzzling because how do you pay for something that's more affordable? How do you pay for cheaper rent? How do you pay for — you just pay for it.”
“And we're paying more now!” she added. “So it's not that that we're saying this whole system is free, we're saying it is free of cost at the point of service. So that means that you're not delaying going to the dentist because you don't have the cash at the point of service."
This is absolutely ridiculous. The reason people are asking how you pay for it is because it goes from doing it for a little bit of people who meet certain criteria to doing it for every person in America. That's going to be quite a cost increase even if you think you're going to get that cheaper, which we already know from Obamacare that premiums continue to go up while services are lowered for an increase in payment.
She was asked about college tuition and how that would be paid for, but she skirted the question and only said that education was important.
Here’s a transcript of the exchange:
RAMOS: “So, I have 10 big ideas, I have my list.”
RAMOS: “Can we go one by one?”
OCASIO-CORTEZ: “Yeah, let’s do it.”
RAMOS: “Alright, alright. Okay, so number 10.”
RAMOS: “Medicare for all. Is it too expensive?”
OCASIO-CORTEZ: “No. People often say, like, how are you going to pay for it? And I find the question so puzzling because how do you pay for something that’s more affordable? How do you pay for cheaper rent? How do you pay for — you just pay for it. And we’re paying more now! So it’s not that that we’re saying this whole system is free, we’re saying it is free of cost at the point of service. So that means that you’re not delaying going to the dentist because you don’t have the cash at the point of service.”
RAMOS: “Number nine, tuition-free public universities for all. Who will pay for that?”
OCASIO-CORTEZ: “So, we’re already paying for tuition-free K-12, and in the same way that we made a decision as a country to say we need to educate people to a 12th grade level, our economy has evolved and that means we need to make the decision to educate people to a trade school or collegiate level.”
RAMOS: “So we can afford that?”
OCASIO-CORTEZ: “Absolutely, absolutely.”
It's clear that Ocasio-Cortez has never had to actually pay for anything herself. In fact, if you recall, she tried to present herself as this working girl whose hard word and dedication paid off, but was later exposed as something completely different.
She's like the great usurper Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro Sobarkah, who never had a real job a day in his life. He just followed Saul Alinsky and Karl Marx and organized people, then mooched off the people his entire life. Ocasio-Cortez is exactly the same, including the fact that she thinks her job as a US representative is to organize people.
Ocasio-Cortez is definitely not the sharpest knife in the drawer and it's simply a reflection of the district that voted her into office.
