Pray for President-elect Donald Trump.
Pray for his repentance.
Pray that he will submit to Christ as King while God graces him with the time to do so.
Pray for America.
Pray for America’s repentance – a culture-wide repentance that, if it is to actually happen, must be led and inspired by the repentance of a professing Christian church in America that has led our culture into darkness by setting aside the Word of God as it’s standard in politics, law, education, economics and practically everything else (except for “church stuff” and “religious stuff,” of course, whatever those things even mean anymore).
Pray that the judgment of God so clearly falling upon a proud, unrepentant “We the People” will produce conviction, repentance, and restoration through life-giving submission to Christ as King, rather than the ultimate destruction that we deserve.
Only then will the LGBTQRSTD wave be prevented from finishing its work of drowning the culture in its anti-Christian worldview.
Only then will the open worship of false gods in the land be repudiated as the anti-Christ, culture destroying practice that it is rather than cherished as an All-American virtue to be championed as a great example for the world to follow.
Only then will the “right” to murder children for convenience end in “the land of the free” and the home of the NSA.
The list goes on and on…but are We the People even interested in hearing, much less actively obeying, the Word of God in detail on the subjects of law, government, economics and education anymore? Or is America being hardened into permanent blindness and death for God’s greater purposes as He advances His Kingdom?
There is no hope for America or any other people in God’s creation apart from submission to Christ as King.
There is no hope for Donald Trump or any other man apart from submission to the perfect, loving Word of God in detail in every area of life.
So let us pray for conviction, repentance, submission and restoration – beginning in our own lives so that we might then coherently, humbly, and urgently pray for the repentance and restoration of Donald Trump and American culture.
That’s a central part of our mission now as Christians in America.
We have a great opportunity to pray for President-elect Trump, just as we’ve had (and continue to have) a great opportunity to pray for President Obama.
Let’s seize that opportunity more effectively today than we did yesterday, realizing that our relative lack of eagerness to pray for men like Barack Obama tells us much about our own lack of obedience to Christ as King, which then tells us much about our own personal role in producing the culture that is burning around us.
Pray for clarity, conviction, repentance, and restoration…while there is yet time.
