If you have been following the story, you know that Aaron and Melissa Klein have been targeted by the sodomite community for refusing to bake a cake for two lesbians, Laurel and Rachel Bowman-Cryer (Cryer, that does epitomize these two women, doesn’t it?). This week, Mr. Klein dropped off a check for $136,927.07, according to the Bureau of Labor and Industries. He sent a payment in last month of $7,000.
FOX News reports:
Damages were award in July for emotional suffering caused by the bakery which refused to make a wedding cake for Laurel and Rachel Bowman-Cryer more than two years ago. The bakers said they refused to make the cake because of their religious beliefs.
Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian awarded the damages nearly six months ago, saying the owners had violated the women’s civil rights by discriminating on the basis of their sexual orientation. They were also slapped with a gag order that prohibited them from speaking publicly about their refusal to participate in or bake wedding cakes for same-sex marriages.
Aaron and his wife Melissa filed an appeal of the ruling and were defying the order to pay the damages before Monday. Tyler Smith, an attorney representing the Kleins, told The Oregonian that his clients have not abandoned their appeal of Avakian’s order. Smith said it was in their clients’ best interests to pay now rather than wait for the appeal date, which is slated for next year.
The Oregonian reported the state has received a total of $144,000 from the Kleins. Charlie Burr, an agency spokesman, told the paper the payment might be more than what they owe.
The two lesbian women, who are already demonstrating their mental illness in their sexual deviancy, claimed to suffer from 88 separate symptoms of mental anguish. Those “symptoms” included “surprise,” being “stunned,” experiencing a “dislike of going to work,” and that one or both of them had resumed smoking. Really? And this is worth putting someone out of business and forcing them to pay over $140,000? I can’t take them serious, but I do take the tyranny expressed by the State of Oregon very serious.
The unconstitutional and immoral law of Oregon that was written in 2007 was to protect sodomites and other mentally ill people from housing, employment and public accommodations was twisted even further by the state courts to infringe on First Amendment rights that said that private businesses could not discriminate against customers.
As I’ve written about before, discrimination is a part of the First Amendment. Under the right to peacefully assemble, one discriminates with whom one will assemble and whom one will not. The same thing applies in your home and in business.
This tyrannical targeting by sodomites with the help of the state is nothing more than a shakedown of decent, honest, hardworking Christians. Oregon should be ashamed of themselves over this mess, but instead, they justified it, in Nazi-like terms.
Oregon Labor Bureau Commissioner Brad Avakian told Oregon Live, “The goal is to rehabilitate. For those who do violate the law, we want them to learn from that experience and have a good, successful business in Oregon.”
Rehabilitate? Violate the law? Whose law? Sodomy is still a crime in Oregon! And before anyone goes after me for referring to lesbianism as sodomy, read the Webster’s 1828 definition of sodomite and sodomy. These people are engaging in crimes against nature, each other and God!
So, I ask Mr. Avakian, what real law was broken by the Kleins? None. In fact, not only are the Cryers breaking the law, but the State of Oregon is violating the freedom to discriminate based on sexual deviancy, according to their consciences being bound to the Word of God, which should be protected.
“It’s almost as if the state is hostile toward Christian businesses,” said Aaron. He’s exactly right!
In August, the couple took it upon themselves to bake cakes for several pro-sodomy groups in an effort to demonstrate good will towards them. This is how they have been repaid.
