To say that this life is an easy one would be a lie, and that’s not a behavior that I’m in the habit of engaging in.
I’ve been at this alternative media thing for over three years now, and let’s just say that it has been turbulent. I began during the most peculiar of eras as well, the spring of 2016, before we were certain that Donald Trump would find himself in the role of republican nominee, and during the heyday of the Hillary Clinton health scandal.
These were more innocent days, certainly, and a whole lot less stressful for this sort of business. As soon as The Donald became The President, everything changed here outside of the mainstream.
Those who opposed the election of Donald Trump were simply stunned, and they needed someone to blame.
They could have blamed the DNC, whose collusion with Hillary Clinton was documented in a series of releases from Wikileaks demonstrating that the former Secretary of State worked with the organization to rig the primaries against Bernie Sanders. Sanders was considered by several polls to hold an advantage over Clinton, at least in terms of beating Trump head to head. Hillary’s betrayal of the democratic party didn’t only squash Sanders’ chances, but it alienated a wide swath of voters who would have been automatic democratic votes for Bernie.
But no, the left didn’t blame the DNC, or Hillary, or any American involved in the entire debacle. They blamed Wikileaks and those who reported on the content of the emails that exposed the corruption.
They blamed the alternative media. They shot the messenger.
They began throwing around the term “fake news” – a moniker that is allowed to live in a perpetual duality to this day: When the President says it, we know he means CNN. When CNN says it, they mean Breitbart. They mean Infowars. They mean Freedom Outpost.
They mean me.
Just days after the election of Donald Trump, “fake news” fervor was at an all time high. The cable news industry was attempting to paint with the broadest of brushes in order to create damning piles of evidence against an alternative media that was somehow more in-tune with America than they were.
That’s when John Oliver put me on blast.
That’s me in blue, during a segment regarding “fake news”. In fact, Oliver called this collection of stories a “cesspool of nonsense”, if I’m remembering correctly.
It doesn’t take the sharpest knife if the drawer to see that this story from 2016 is eerily prescient today, after the arrest of the “pedophile sex trafficker” in question, and the flight logs for his private plane that clearly show former President Bill Clinton accumulating freaky frequent flyer miles en masse.
And I would love to go into detail about just how eerily prescient that story is, but I can’t. That’s because shortly after Oliver outed Patriot Update to the world, the mainstream media and several competing fact-checking companies began to bludgeon us with imaginary demerits that they invented themselves with only the authority they independently conjured.
(By the way, if there are competing fact checkers, then you’ve already exposed your own scam, haven’t you? Facts are binary; one fact checking organization is plenty if your objective is the truth).
Soon after, Patriot Update and hundreds of other sites like it were shut down, thousands of people were out of work, and the entire political discussion of the world wide web was pushed ever further to the left. That’s not to mention how this lambasting of alternative media sources has opened the door for the systematic censorship that we see on social media today.
And, even beyond all of those tertiary points, one fact still remains: I was right.
Hillary Clinton, and her husband Bill are linked to Jeffrey Epstein. Wikileaks made that apparent to us in 2016 and only know, after Epstein’s homes have been raided and thousands of photos and videos have been obtained by authorities, is the infotainment industry catching up to what we were saying over three years ago.
It wasn’t fake news…Y’all just weren’t ready for it.
Oh, and I’m still waiting on my apology, John.
