Obama Supporters Don’t Even Know What His Second Term Agenda Is

It seems that Barack Obama is campaigning on the same issues he was campaigning on in 2008. He is still talking “Hope and Change,” but has yet to really define that except to say it’s a “fundamental” change of America. Currently that isn’t looking very good to most Americans.

On The Daily Show with Jon Stewart this week, Obama said he had accomplished many things he set out to do, such as end the war in Iraq, install healthcare reform and a list of other things, but he failed to talk about billions in stimulus money (taxpayer money) which have not paid off or the fact that his “green” energy initiatives have tanked to the tune of billions that taxpayers are on the hook for.

The Washington Times interviewed a few Obama supporters. When asked about what a second Obama term would look like, Cynthia Malbon of Manchester said, “I don’t know. I’m skeptical that anything much is going to happen. It’s probably going to be worse next time around.”

“I’d like to hear just how he’s going to accomplish [a stronger economy],” she said. “I was a lot more optimistic four years ago than I am today, that’s for sure.”

Ron Chito of Medford, Massachusetts said, “If you’re a good reader and you know what is going on, then you have a good idea what his policies are and where he’s headed. Hopefully, we can get more Democrats in the House and Senate so we can get a good jobs bill passed.”

According to Obama campaign, his agenda for a second term includes, “hiring 100,000 more teachers, boosting domestic energy production, creating more manufacturing jobs and cutting the deficit.” Obama also said he wants to subsidize college tuition, increase U.S. exports, raise taxes on the wealthy and promote clean energy. “That’s my agenda for the future,” Mr. Obama said.

While he did take time to attack his opponent Mitt Romney, it was really nothing new that he was saying. “He’s got a tax plan that doesn’t add up, he’s got a jobs plan that doesn’t create jobs, he’s got a deficit plan that doesn’t reduce the deficit,” Obama said. “We don’t need a sketchy deal.”

It seems that Obama’s agenda for a second term may be clear to him, but his supporters are the ones he has yet to really convince. Maybe this is, in part, why he is losing his support in states he easily won in 2008.
