It is easy to criticize Obama as the most incompetent, dangerous president in our history, and it is easy to castigate the electoral system for setting us up to fail, but the truth is that Obama is us and the electoral system is of our creation. Obama and the system are only reminders of who we are.
Who are we?
One group of us is a collection of gentle souls who want everyone to be happy, have enough to eat, and get what we want. This is the kumbaya group.
Another group is made of up various advantage takers: politicians, some entrepreneurs, union bosses, government employees who use the revolving door to land post-retirement-half-million-dollar-a year jobs, the people who give them those jobs, and everyone who disregards the welfare of the nation in favor of his own welfare.
A third group is composed of pressure groups: black power advocates, gay rights advocates, communists, feminists, anti-gun people, gun rights people who advocate the open display of firearms, the politically correct, pro-Hispanic groups, and a thousand others who, like the advantage takers, disregard the welfare of the nation in favor of their own welfare.
The last group are individuals who value the history and identity of the nation, who work to preserve that identity while also being mindful of their own welfare, their ability to support themselves and their families.
Obama has brought the nation and the world to the brink of war. His blatant hatred for America and what he sees as America’s imperialism, his determination to protect Islam, the religion he grew up with, while not admitting the obvious: that he is himself Muslim, and his general plan to bring America to its knees, has been happening over the last six years.
Why didn’t the country rise up in rebellion when Obama denied that the IRS, NSA, ATF, or the Justice Department could do anything wrong, when he wrote executive orders to authorize things he could not get congress to approve, when he sued states for defending their borders with Mexico, when he invited foreign nationals to send us their children, when he endorsed the racist policies of an attorney general who has been held in contempt of congress, when he engaged in budget-busting spending that has threatened the stability of the entire economic system, when he ignored requirements of the Obamacare legislation and made others up, when he refused to order complete disclosure of government complicity in the Benghazi killings, when he repeatedly demonstrated to the world that he has no clue as to foreign policy, resulting in the likelihood that rogue Islamic states will have nuclear weapons?
What were we doing while he was displaying his skills? Some of us were smiling and saying “let’s all get along.” Others were just paying attention to the next promotion. The pressure groups were beside themselves with glee, for when the country is falling apart, there is no better opportunity for them to succeed. Everyone else was just dumbfounded.
Unchecked self-interest is the enemy of political stability. A few individuals cannot save the nation while everyone else is singing kumbaya or working only for themselves or special interests at the expense of the country as a whole.
So none of us should blame Obama. We should blame ourselves, for Obama is who we are. Obama is what happens when we are in charge. Obama represents the collective mindset that politics is too unimportant, too remote to pay attention to. Obama, in all his mindless cavorting in the best hotels, taking the 100 million dollar vacation to Africa (up to 12.5 million dollars a day was spent), the First Lady traveling to Ireland, Africa, Western Europe, and Copenhagen on planes that cost up to $42,936 per hour to operate; hosting the million dollar dinner parties, hanging out with rap stars, playing golf while people are beheaded – in short, conducting the imperial presidency — he is us.
Likely presidential candidate Ben Carson recently said that there may not be a 2016 election. The country, according to Carson, may implode before then.
When a presidential candidate says that the country may destroy itself, that’s something we should pay attention to.
Of course, his reference is to the havoc that the community-organizer has done to the country generally. But his reference undoubtedly is also to the police state that seems to be emerging in the wake of Obama’s malfeasance. To see what I mean, google “America civil war in 2014.” And then read and watch some of the results of your search.
We have all become accustomed to seeing police in military garb operating armored vehicles, much like the military gear on display in Ferguson, Missouri. But here is something one should think about in conjunction with that. The National Defense Authorization Act, 2014, as you read this, authorizes the military of the United States to treat you as a foreign terrorist and to detain you indefinitely without trial.
FEMA camps said to be large enough to house 50 million Americans are being built. The Department of Homeland Security has recently added an order of 360,000 rounds of ammunition in addition to the 2 billion they purchased in the last months. This is on top of their purchase of bomb-proof battle trucks and an additional 7,000 fully automatic rifles. See “The Second American Civil War 2014,” The Sides Are Forming For the Coming Civil War, The DHS Buys 7,000 Full-Auto Assault Rifles, Obama DHS Purchases 2,700 Light Armored Tanks.
The optimists among us insist that all these preparations cannot be for us, for our own police forces and soldiers would not turn against fellow Americans. That prediction is probably wrong: consider the 1963 Yale study carried out by Stanley Milgram. In the Milgram experiments, subjects were asked to administer electric shocks to people who pretended to be hurt by the shocks. Sixty-six percent of those administering the shock agreed to administer a 450 volt charge, enough to kill the pretended victim. This experiment, carried out in 1963, has never been rebutted, and stands for the proposition that most groups of people will do what they’re told, even if it harms, even if it kills others. Accordingly, we can expect roughly 66% of police and the military to follow orders to disarm, kill, and/or imprison other American citizens and to arrest and overpower the 34% who balk. See, The Reason Why There Will Be a Second American Civil War.
When you read some of the articles in the google search [above], you may be forced to admit what you haven’t wanted to face, what you never wanted to happen, what knocks the wind out of you: the government is not only failing, but heading toward a police state that is gearing up to do battle with its citizens. Should that happen, many of us will not survive. Apparently the government thinks there may be as many as 50 million of us who won’t survive.
Those who are dissatisfied with the government go through stages of dissatisfaction. First, the inclination is to get involved in politics and work to affect the next election. When that doesn’t work, the next step is alignment with a new group, something like the Tea Party, a group willing to be more open about its complaints. Next is a period of dismay. Following that is the realization that working within the extant political system is a fool’s errand.
Our circumstances are surreal. The country we grew up with is dissolving around us and familiar landmarks and institutions which we believed would last forever, are crumbling.
Finally, we have to come to terms with the fact that we are Obama, he is mixing the cool-aid, and most of us are drinking it.
