The Dipstick-in-Chief, otherwise known as Obama, has stated that the US overestimated the Iraqi military's ability to fight against ISIS while underestimating the rise of the Islamic State. In an appearance on 60 minutes, Obama stated, "Essentially what happened with ISIL was that you had al Qaeda in Iraq, which was a vicious group, but our Marines were able to quash with the help of Sunni tribes. They went back underground, but over the past couple of years, during the chaos of the Syrian civil war, where essentially you had huge swaths of the country that are completely ungoverned, they were able to reconstitute themselves and take advantage of that chaos." He maintained that it became a "ground zero" for jihadist worldwide after foreign fighters arrived in the region.
To hear Obama tell the story, our intelligence community completely dropped the ball when it came to ISIS; however, the story that Obama tells is not exactly the truth.
According to McClatchyDC:
Obama may have underestimated the problem, but it wasn't because he didn't get full briefing. McClatchy reported in July that in congressional testimony as far back as November, US diplomats and intelligence officials made clear that the United States had been closely tracking the al Qaeda spinoff since 2012, when it enlarged its operations from Iraq to civil war-torn Syria, seized an oil-rich province there and signed up thousands of foreign fighters who'd infiltrated Syria through NATO ally Turkey.
Obama maintained in the interview, "I think our head of the intelligence community, Jim Clapper, has acknowledged that I think they underestimated what had been taking place in Syria."
On January 29, 2014, National Intelligence Director James Clapper informed the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence that Syria was "'a growing center of radical extremism'" and a potential threat to the US. Prior to this, in March of 2013, Clapper informed the same committee that the al Qaeda spinoff, Syrian-based al-Nusra front, was "'one of the best organized and most capable of the Sunni terrorist groups.'"
If the National Intelligence Director and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence knew of the seriousness of this threat now known as the Islamic State as early as 2012, how is it that Obama can claim on national television that this same director "underestimated" it's rise?
According to the Government Accountability Institute (GAI), Obama has only attended 42.1% of his daily intelligence briefings in the 2,079 days of his presidency through September 29, 2014. Interestingly enough, the White House does not dispute this but indicates the Dipstick-in-Chief prefers to get his briefings on his iPad, instead of the live, in-person brief. The live, in-person intelligence brief allows the president opportunity for "critical follow-up, feedback, questions and the challenging of flawed intelligence assumptions." But, as one staffer indicated, it was pretty well-known that Obama has not taken in-person intelligence briefings with any regularity since 2009, but he does get them in writing.
The intelligence community has blasted Obama for attempting to shift blame. A former senior Pentagon official stated, "Either the president doesn't read the intelligence he's getting or he's bullshitting."
Along the same lines, an Obama national security staffer claimed, "Unless someone very senior has been shredding the president's daily briefings and telling him that the dog ate them, highly accurate predictions about ISIL have been showing up in the Oval Office since before the 2012 elections."
When the GAI released similar numbers on the president attending his daily intelligence briefings in 2012, then White House press secretary Jay Carney called their findings "hilarious." The very next day, the attack on the Benghazi complex occurred resulting in the deaths of four Americans. The White House presidential calendar indicated that Obama had not received his daily intelligence briefing in the five consecutive days prior to the Benghazi attacks. At that time, Obama had attended only 43.8% of his daily briefings.
The GAI report should tell every American where Obama places "security" and "threats" to our nation on his list. It is much more important to fund raise, play golf, campaign, promote immorality, increase the national debt, destroy our constitution, wreck our economy, control our healthcare, promote illegal invasions, promote inequity of the law, use government agencies against his political opposition, and in general, destroy Americans through every means imaginable than it is to secure this nation from threats. This report proves the man is derelict in his duty as the leader of our nation. Of course, this fraud had help – namely, members of Congress, who have also been derelict in their duty.
While Obama is busy trying to throw more individuals under the bus for his inadequacies, America faces a growing threat in ISIS – not ISIL. The threat is the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. More specifically, the threat is Islam. And, this threat is here in America with increasing threats entering through our porous southern border.
Our government is aware of the 30 something odd Islamic training camps in the United States but refuses to address the problem or even identify it as one. We have seen the shooting at Fort Hood dubbed workplace violence when it clearly was an act of Islamic jihad. An Oklahoma woman was recently beheaded by a Muslim co-worker who attempted to convert workers at the food plant to Islam. Crazy, tampon earring wearing MSNBC pundit dubbed reporter Melissa Harris Perry has already called this beheading "workplace violence." And, while attempts are being made to downplay the threat to America, ISIS has threatened strikes against the US on American soil. One wonders if another attack such as what happened on 9/11/2001 occurs if the media and Obama will proclaim "workplace violence."
One can bet Obama will be surprised by a terrorist attack on American soil when it happens since he does not take an interest in his daily intelligence briefings. It will be a scramble to see who or what he can shift blame onto for that. Guaranteed, that bus will have to be a big one.
This man ignores important daily intelligence briefings almost 58% of the time. What would be different today had America had a president who attended these briefings and took seriously the job to which he was elected? How many American lives have been lost that didn't have to be?
We will never know the answer to those questions. What America should know by now is the importance of having solid dependable leadership instead of a community organizer with no leadership skills whose greatest accomplishment was smoking dope on a couch in college with Communist/Marxist/Socialist supporters and sympathizers while claiming to be a "citizen of the world."Don't forget to Like Freedom Outpost on Facebook, Google Plus, & Twitter.
