Obama: I Haven't Made Fun of Teabaggers

A letter has surfaced from Barack Obama to a Texas teacher by the name of Thomas J. Ritter. Ritter had written to Obama expressing concerns over the way he and his administration have handled criticism of his healthcare law. In response, according to the letter from the New York Post's Page Six, Obama referred to his opposition as "teabaggers," and said that Obamacare was certainly not the "smart political thing" to do.

Ritter, a fifth-grade teacher at Sally B. Elliott Elementary in Irving, Texas, was surprised when he got a hand-written response on official White House stationary from Barack Obama.

“I hesitated to write for fear of some kind of retribution," Ritter continued. "I watched you make fun of teabaggers and your press secretary make fun of Ms. [Sarah] Palin which was especially beneath the dignity of the White House . . . Do the right thing not the political thing. Suggest a bill that Americans can support.”

While Mr. Ritter first used the term "teabaggers" in his original address, what is noticeable is that Obama doesn't think of addressing his opposition in a more suitable term. Rather, he just uses the term "tea-baggers."

“I . . . appreciate your concern about the toxic political environment right now. I do have to challenge you, though, on the notion that any citizen that disagrees with me has been ‘targeted and ridiculed’ or that I have ‘made fun’ of teabaggers . . . [I] defend strongly the right of everyone to speak their mind — including those who call me ‘socialist’ or worse."

Well that is interesting since socialist identifies an ideology Obama actually has. However, the term "teabaggers" is clearly a derogatory term. As for his targeting of citizens that disagree with him, well that is plainly seen in what Lois Lerner and the Internal Revenue Service have engaged in under the Obama administration.

However, as usual, Obama is knowingly lying. ABC reported in May 2010:

In Jonathan Alter’s “The Promise: President Obama, Year One,” President Obama is quoted in an November 30, 2009, interview saying that the unanimous vote of House Republicans vote against the stimulus bills “set the tenor for the whole year … That helped to create the teabaggers and empowered that whole wing of the Republican Party to where it now controls the agenda for the Republicans.”

Tea Party activists loathe the term “tea baggers,” which has emerged in liberal media outlets and elsewhere as a method of mocking the activists and their concerns.

Don't look now Obama, but your pants are on fire.

Obama continued and then stated plainly that Obamacare was not the "smart political thing."

“I believe that health care reform will be the right thing for the country . . . It certainly wasn’t the smart ‘political’ thing! And I hope that in the months to come, you will keep an open mind and evaluate it based not on the political attacks but on what it does or doesn’t do to improve people’s lives. Sincerely, Barack Obama.”

Obviously, from all accounts the unconstitutional health care law is not improving people's lives, their employment or the economy. That's what we've been judging it on all along.

Below is the letter, which Mr. Ritter is alos putting up for sale. Why someone would want to buy it is beyond me.
