Despite Donald Trump’s exuberant attempts to rein in Kim Jong Un’s wild side, the dainty despot of the DPRK seems hellbent on continuing his reign of terror.
The hermit kingdom has long believed that wavering between playing nice and exerting their authority would be the key to negotiating more convenient sanctions for themselves on the world’s stage. It’s no surprise; for decades, this game of cat-and-mouse has allowed Kim to blame North Korea’s woes on their international foes, and in a nation as isolated and dysfunctional as the DPRK this has been terribly effective.
Now, amid nuclear talks between North Korea and the United States, Kim has chosen actions that have consistently put them at odds with the western world.
Their latest aggressions are no exception.
The photos show vessels and cranes that could be used to haul a missile out to sea for launch, according to experts at a Washington-based think tank, NBC News reported.
The satellite photos seem to confirm North Korean state media reports from July about a newly built submarine.
“There is no conclusive evidence at the moment that this is a near-term certainty,” an expert said of a possible missile test.
North Korea’s continued advancements in the realm of nuclear technology are concerning not only for the United States, however.
Should the tiny dictatorship achieve the ability to launch nuclear warheads from any number of their formidable submarines, the stability of the region would be in great jeopardy.
