‘No Drama Obama’ Wants To Raise Debt Ceiling Without “Drama Or Delay”

On Wednesday, a White House official said that Barack Obama wants to raise the debt ceiling without “drama or delay.” Presumably he would rather take these matter in his own hands since he believes that he is more like a king and less like a President and it seems that many in his party are more than happy to give him unilateral control over the debt ceiling, which is the job of Congress.

According to the official, “The President will highlight why it would hurt our economy and our nation’s businesses if we do not find a solution to avoid another debt ceiling crisis, and will ask the business leaders for their help in supporting an approach that resolves the debt limit without drama or delay.”

But that wasn’t all. Reuters, who reported the statement of the unnamed official, took to blaming Republicans for fighting the debt ceiling increase last time around and for that being the reason for the U.S. credit downgrade.

“It was the reluctance of congressional Republicans to agree to such an increase in 2011 without deep spending cuts that brought the nation to the brink of default. The result was a historic lowering of the U.S. credit rating and a setback to the recovery from a recession that ended in 2009.

The statutory ceiling on U.S. Treasury borrowing is $16.4 trillion. The nation is expected to hit the legal limit near the year’s end, although it can tap emergency measures to stave off a default and keep the government running into early 2013.”

Seriously, this has to be the most ridiculous argument there can be. It’s true there was a bit of a fight put up, which quickly became an agreement. However, Republicans fighting the debt ceiling is not the reason for our credit downgrade. That has to do with simply being so far in debt, printing money out of thin air, and continued spending increases, along with continuing to increase the debt ceiling twice.

Both sides bear responsibility in this. They simply do not know how to not spend our money! Fighting the debt ceiling increase and bringing this monstrosity that we know as the federal government under control is the only way to deal with our economic situation. There is absolutely no reason on earth that the United States federal government should be as bloated as it is and spending the trillions of dollars it does and there is no reason that Republicans should not stand up against Barack Obama and the Democrats and not make nay deals with them.

If they haven’t learned by now that they cannot trust the word of Obama and the Democrats then perhaps they need to step aside and let new leadership step in. I’m thinking some great guys to fill the void by the establishment types would be some of the guys who are true grassroots conservatives that they are seeking to purge from their committees and perhaps their party.
