Melissa Harris-Perry has made a career for herself as an anchor on MSNBC. Though helming an extremely low-rated show, she wields the power of her own bully pulpit, a position that she has routinely used to mock and deride Republicans and conservatives for our beliefs – economic, social and otherwise. She even recently attacked Kansas Governor Sam Brownback (R-KS) for his efforts at running Kansas as an economic conservative (mostly).
Remember when you used your very first state-of-the-state back in 2011 to promise a reset of the Kansas tax code?
Well, you made good in May of 2012 when you signed historic tax cuts into law and claimed that as the state marched toward zero income tax it would quote “create tens of thousands of new jobs and help make Kansas the best place in America to start and grow a small business.” You followed that up with even further income tax cuts in 2013.
But the jobs, and small business growth, and booming prosperity you hypothesized did not materialize. Instead, as a result of your experiment last April, Moody’s downgraded your state’s credit score. And Standard and Poors followed with a credit downgrade for Kansas in August. The downgrades reflected a reality your sunny disposition did not. Your tax cuts have created a 1 billion dollar revenue loss and run up a staggering budgetary shortfall, estimated to be as large as 280 million dollars.
Harris-Perry fails to mention the fact that the federal government led by her pedantic President has destroyed our national economy and made any growth very difficult. She also fails to mention that states like California, New York and Illinois have done exactly as she would have Kansas do… and their results have been disastrous (even moreso than Kansas’). But the thing I find most humorous about Harris-Perry’s attacks on Republicans who lower taxes is…
That Melissa Harris-Perry is in trouble for choosing not to pay her own taxes.
That’s right, Harris-Perry is a tax cheat.
According to The Winston-Salem Journal Melissa Harris-Perry and her husband James Perry owe the Internal Revenue Service $70,000 in delinquent taxes. On top of that, a notice filed recently in the Forsyth County Hall of Justice leads shows that the IRS has placed a tax lien on the Perry’s.
So for Perry, as it is with so many liberal hypocrites, lower taxes is a bad thing for me and you… but any tax is bad for them. Harris-Perry’s diagnosis of the problems in Kansas are inept and wrong, but even worse, her hypocrisy on taxes is disgusting. Tax breaks do help the rich more than they help us little people, but that is because taxes hurt the rich inordinately more than us little people. And does Harris-Perry really believe that rich people put the money they save from tax cuts into a BANK? No they reinvest it to make MORE money. And those new investments CREATE new jobs and spur new economic growth… which is why tax cuts work.
But that’s not the point of this piece, is it? No, the point here is that while Harris-Perry rails against tax cuts… she was avoiding paying her own “fair share.” If you love taxes so much, Melissa, shouldn’t you be voluntarily paying more than you owe… not less?Don't forget to Like Freedom Outpost on Facebook and Twitter, and follow our friends at RepublicanLegion.com on Instagram.
