In an incredibly ironic tragedy, the mother of a 15-year-old girl, who was beaten to death by members of the MS-13 gang, and earlier recognized by President Donald Trump during his State of the Union speech was struck and killed by a car at the site of her daughter's memorial.

Evelyn Rodriguez was struck and killed by an SUV as she stood in the road arguing with a relative of someone who lived near the memorial about its placement, according to Fox News.

Mrs. Rodriguez's daughter, 15-year-old Kayla Cuevas, was found in the woods behind a Long Island home two years to the day before her mother was struck and killed.

“My thoughts and prayers are with Evelyn Rodriguez this evening, along with her family and friends,” tweeted President Trump on Friday.

“The MS-13 gang is so unpredictable you just don’t know who is who with them,” Rodriguez said in May at a Bethpage, Long Island forum on gang violence, the Fox News report added. “MS-13 is a new breed of murderers, they are children, kids killing kids, and as they continue to grow, so does their techniques of recruiting helpless kids into their wicked actions.”

She also appeared earlier this year on The Ingraham Angle earlier this year to talk about her daughter's death and the appearance at the State of the Union, alongside Kayla's father, Freddy Cuevas.
