After responding to a shooting at Union Station Friday, on the anniversary of Sept. 11, police confirmed they don’t believe the incident was related to terrorism.
“It’s absolutely not terrorist related,” Police Captain Mark Beach told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “It’s [also] not an active shooter like previously reported.”
The shooting happened at the main train terminal at Union Station. Within an hour the terminal was secured by law enforcement and most of the station resumed normal operations. When police arrived, they found one man shot and a woman stabbed. Police got a call at approximately 12:45 p.m. from someone who heard the gunshot.
“Based on the information we have right now, it’s still very early stages of the preliminary investigation, the officer seemed to have taken the appropriate action,” Police Commander J.L. Brown told reporters. “Investigation determined that the female was stabbed by the male victim.”
“A contract security officer … observed the offense and gave chase to the suspect,” Brown continued. “[He] fired one round from his service weapon, striking the suspect one time in his side.”
The incident is believed to be domestically related. The suspect and woman have been transferred to an area hospital. At the moment police do not believe either injury will be life threatening.Facebook and Twitter, and follow our friends at RepublicanLegion.com.
