Lindsey Graham Calls for Senate to Dismiss Impeachment ‘Inquiry’

The nation’s confidence regarding the validity and judiciousness of the Democratic impeachment push is waning this week, as Republicans launch attack after attack against the “secret” proceedings.

The closed-door testimony of several key White House and State Department officials has already taken place under such suspicious auspices, with committee members unable to speak publicly about what it is that they have heard from the witnesses.  This has left enormous gaps of knowledge among the American people, who deserve the truth of the matter even more than those on Capitol Hill attempting to find it.

The only reason that this has been allowed to continue as such is that the House has not yet voted to authorize the process, nor has it officially drawn up articles of impeachment.  The White House has already said that it won’t be cooperating with the investigation until that occurs.

From a recent appearance on Fox News:

“This is un-American at its core,” Graham said. “What the House of Representatives is doing is a process of political revenge. It is alien to American due process. It should be dismissed quickly in the United States Senate. So what would happen if they impeached the president based on this closed-door, behind-the-scenes, lack-of-due-process inquiry? We should dismiss it without a trial because it is illegitimate on its face. And if it is allowed to stand, there is no protection for future presidents.”

Democrats have insisted that their methods are appropriate, given that they have not yet voted to move forward with officially with impeachment, just “formally” – according to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
