Nothing is supposed to hinder the U.S. Postal Service of delivering your mail. Not rain, sleet, or snow, like the old adage—but for one Wisconsin postal employee, being overwhelmed stood in the way of delivering hundreds of pro-Republican mailers.
According to the Wisconsin Reporter, the mail carrier in Neenah, Wis., wasn’t politically motivated. According to Robert Rukes, special agent with the U.S. Postal Service Office of the Inspector General, he or she was just lazy.
“Based upon our investigation, this was nothing done toward a specific candidate or party. It looks like it was a decision made by the carrier, and it was not a good decision,” to not deliver the campaign advertisements, Robert Rukes, special agent with the inspector general’s office in Chicago, said to the Wisconsin Reporter.
Rukes could not identify the mail carrier, due to the ongoing investigation, but said 879 pieces of political mail were dumped on Thursday.
Among the mailings were campaign messages from Mike Rohrkaste, Republican candidate for Wisconsin’s 55th Assembly District and Glenn Grothman, a Republican state senate candidate for Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District.
