The usually tawdry gossip site, Gawker, has hit the mother lode with a recent uncovering of a former State Department (and Hillary Clinton aide) official’s emails to the media.
The discovery has unleashed a whirlwind of negative media attention for several news outlets and for their allies in the Democrat party. Politico’s Mike Allen and CNN’s Elise Labott have emerged as two particularly hypocritical and corrupt “journalists”.
Allen was found to have promised “positive” and “no-risk” coverage for Hillary Clinton by interviewing her daughter Chelsea Clinton for a puff-piece on Hillary’s potential presidential campaign.
Gawker has received another batch of Hillary Clinton aide Philippe Reines’ emails with reporters while working for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Among Reines’ more frequent correspondents, it turns out, is Mike Allen. In an email dated January 10, 2013 and addressed to Reines, then serving as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Allen floated the idea of interviewing Clinton’s adult daughter, Chelsea, during an upcoming brunch hosted by Politico. Attempting to secure an interview with the daughter of a likely presidential candidate is, of course, far from unheard of. What makes Allen’s ask unusual is that he appears to assure Reines that he’ll produce totally positive coverage of Chelsea Clinton (bolding ours):
This would be a way to send a message during inaugural week: No one besides me would ask her a question, and you and I would agree on them precisely in advance. This would be a relaxed conversation, and our innovative format (like a speedy Playbook Breakfast) always gets heavy social-media pickup. The interview would be “no-surprises”: I would work with you on topics, and would start with anything she wants to cover or make news on. Quicker than a network hit, and reaching an audience you care about with no risk.
It’s surprising because Allen has long been a vocal critic of low-risk interviews from the media, and just a few weeks later he published a column detailing how the Obama White House has worked hard to steer the media narrative using “low-risk” media spots to craft a positive image of the president and his policies.
However, the real villain in this email mess may actually be CNN’s Elise Labott, who was recently suspended for using her Twitter account to editorialize on the Syrian refugee situation.

Everyone, It was wrong of me to editorialize. My tweet was inappropriate and disrespectful. I sincerely apologize.

While Labott has been suspended and CNN hopes that this will all blow over quickly, the Gawker story is likely going to keep that from happening. Apparently, this wasn’t the first time that Labott has acted in such an overtly partisan manner. The uncovered emails prove that Labott has worked with Democrats to smear conservatives in the past as well.
But now, thanks to a small cache of emails, published by Gawker, we can confidently say that Labott’s foray into opinion journalism wasn’t an isolated incident. In fact, Labott appears to have an open line of communication with Clinton aide, Phillipe Reines, and, at one point, took direction from the Clinton campaign, attacking Sen. Rand Paul on Twitter at their behest and with their Tweet.
The emails, which were released to the website Gawker, show that Elise Labott, a foreign affairs reporter at CNN, took guidance from Clinton aide Philippe Reines by posting a tweet criticizing Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul for asking Clinton tough questions during a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on the Sept. 11, 2012 Benghazi attacks.
Labott also coordinated with Reines to post a favorable quote from Clinton’s testimony, which she gave just a week before she left office.
Labott is shown asking Reines whether Sen. Paul was at any of the Benghazi hearings. When she received an answer in the affirmative, she Tweeted this out:
She then reported her Tweet back to Reines, following up with, “She was great. Well done. I hope you are going to have a big drink tonight.”
The evidence is clear – Elise Labott is a partisan hack who has no right to pretend that she is a journalist. Labott has every right to her own political beliefs and she can even write or opine on whatever issues she’d like… but she shouldn’t pretend that she is an unbiased reporter of the news. The obvious truth is that to consider Labott a journalist would require suspending all logic and reason. Labott is as partisan, as biased and as bought and paid for as Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews, Al Sharpton and every other Democrat activist turned “reporter.”Facebook and Twitter, and follow our friends at RepublicanLegion.com.
