Kamala Harris is on the verge of being an official member of the “also-ran” club in 2020, and her desperation is stunningly obvious.
The California Senator is running one of those campaigns that never would have gotten off the ground if it weren’t for her timing, and now that America has gotten to know her, she’s done nothing but spiral deeper into the depths of the Democratic field.
Harris carved a niche out for herself early as the race-baiting candidate – a characterization that was almost immediately squashed by her own wanton misuse of the tactic. Her lie about “smoking weed and listening to Tupac” in college, during Black History Month no less, essentially nullified her ability to garner enough minority votes to be a contender, and she’s hung around since then for reasons unbeknownst to the rest of the field.
Now, in what can only be described as an attempt to inject some life into Harris’ flailing campaign, the Democratic Senator is taking another shot at the President, this time over his characterization of the death of a terrorist mastermind.
Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., praised the U.S. military and intelligence community for the raid that killed ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, but called out President Trump for his “extraordinary” reaction to the successful mission.
Speaking Monday on NBC’s “Late Night” with Seth Meyers, the 2020 presidential contenderargued that Trump’s remarks after the raid proved he “does not fully appreciate the importance of the job.”
“That press conference was extraordinary. You would think that he was talking about watching and giving commentary on a video game. He is the commander in chief, the commander in chief of the United States of America,” she stressed, then drawing applause for using female pronouns to describe the presidency.
“She has as her highest priority the responsibility to concern herself with our nation’s security. … He clearly does not fully appreciate the importance of the job, which must be done with integrity, which must be done in a way that is solemn, understanding what is at stake. But I give full credit to our military, to our Special Forces, to our intelligence committee for the work they’ve done and continue to do,” she said.
For Harris and several other Democrats, this newfound willingness to posthumously defend terrorists from the President’s gloating exemplifies their allegiances to the “resistance” over their own national security.
