U.S. employers added 224,000 jobs in June, beating Wall Street’s expectations of 160,000.
CNN’s Business Correspondent Alison Kosik underscores how the June jobs report under the Trump economy is “blowing away expectations.”
Alison Kosik: “If anybody, Jim, was convinced that May, with 72,000 jobs added, was the beginning of a trend, I think June is giving you your answer, that it looks like May was really just a fluke. So 224,000 Jobs added in June. Some of this may be students were out of school and they’re taking jobs for the summer. But this number certainly blowing away expectations.”
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. added 224,000 jobs in June with “notable jobs gains” in “professional and business services, in health care, and in transportation and warehousing.”
CNBC reported that economists had expected this number to be only 165,000. On average, the U.S. jobs report has grown by 172,000 per month this year, which is down from a 223,000 employment growth average last year.
President Donald Trump celebrated the jobs report by tweeting “JOBS, JOBS, JOBS!” and quoting a CNSNews article that identified this as the “19th Record of Trump Era.”
The unemployment rate for June was at 3.7 percent, up slightly from 3.6 percent in May. However, before October the unemployment rate had not been as low as 3.7 percent since 1969. Currently, about 6 million Americans report being unemployed. More
Winning… The economy is the question and answer. Thank you, President Trump! Amazing what happens when you get Government out of the way of Business. Fewer taxes and fewer regulations are key to a good economy and this is what Trump’s policies have produced.
We were told the economy would slow down.
We were told things couldn’t possible continue to be this good.
We were told it was all a fluke.
