Two days ago The Hill reported that Senator Jeff Session of Alabama said: “The Obama administration has announced that after the elections it would issue an executive order allowing nearly 5 million immigrants to remain in the United States on worker visas — many have U.S. children.”
“These orders, planned for after the election, would implement by executive fiat the sweeping amnesty that was rejected by the Republican House,” Sessions wrote. “If the president’s promised executive amnesty goes through, we will functionally have open borders in America. But the citizens of this country, through their vote, have the power to stop it.”
Sessions said if Republicans control the Senate next year, they would vote to stop Obama’s executive actions…
It was a pre-election plea to get out the vote for senate republican candidates.
As I explained in my article from yesterday, “No More Compromise for This Conservative,” I would no longer vote for a Mitch McConnell, establishment rubber stamp like Scott Brown, and I didn’t. If he wins, so be it. If he loses, my conscience is still clear.
Since I’m writing prior to knowing the outcome of Tuesday’s elections – let’s suppose the Republicans do win the required seats to retake the Senate. Senator Sessions, as do most of the “vote republican no matter what – to stop Obama,” claim that they can and will stop executive amnesty.
Has anyone heard how they will do this? I don’t mean what they say they intend to do – but how they will do it.
I’m serious – how will they do it? How will they stop any of what Obama has planned, or for that matter, any of what is already in place? The fact is they won’t stop him. They could, but they won’t.
I’ve heard that one of the first orders of the lame duck session will be to pass a massive one year budget, or long term continuing resolution so they get that “budget fight” off the table for an entire year. Thus they get to avoid a fight altogether, which is what I would expect from the spineless establishment. This won’t be. If it happens, it will be simply a Harry Reid-driven proposal. Don’t for a second think this stunt hasn’t been endorsed by McConnell and the boys.
Is this what you “elect republicans at all costs” voters wanted? This is what you’re going to get!
I’ve heard it said by many conservatives that “At least the republicans aren’t evil like Obama and Harry Reid.” Well, if this is what they intend to do, than yes, they are.
What recourse the republicans have to “Stop Obama” has long been taken off the table. They will shut down the government for any reason. They will not close departments, nor defund programs or agencies. They’ve already admitted all this.
Why do we think the republicans will do anything to stop the “Obama Wave”?
It’s as if history began when Obama first took office – that everything is Obama’s fault – that we’re not permitted to remember what a domestic disaster the Bush administration was. And we’re also never reminded that Bush had a Republican controlled House for 6 years and Senate for 4-1/2.
Bush, with the help of the “Stop Obama” Republicans increased spending by 53% and discretionary spending by 96%.
Remember “No Child Left Behind”? Remember the massive government expansion called Medicare Part ‘D’ or the expansion of ethanol mandates, or many other liberal expansions of government?
Someone – anyone – tell me how virtually the same people who caused so much damage while in the majority under Bush will “Stop the Obama Wave”?
And so if what everyone is predicting comes to fruition and the Republicans take the Senate, most on our side will be elated. And then what?
Within a few day,s the establishment will declare conservatives irrelevant and the Tea Party deceased. They got what they wanted out of us and then we will be ordered to once again, sit down and shut up.
And what will all the conservative know-it-alls say when the “Obama Wave” just keeps on rolling in for two more years?
Why, they’ll say – “What did you expect us to do without also having the White House?
