Jeb Bush and the Briar Patch

Jeb Bush is everywhere. Jeb Bush is in New Hampshire. Jeb Bush is in South Carolina. Jeb Bush has lost weight. Jeb Bush speaks Spanish. Jeb Bush has raised $millions for his war chest. Jeb Bush leads in the Real Clear Politics poll. Jeb makes the news where he doesn’t even plan to show up, like Iowa’s Straw Poll. No doubt that he is the Democrat-media favorite. Why? Because a “moderate” Republican candidate is not electable—and they know it. Can you say Bob Dole, or John McCain, or Mitt Romney?

The last thing in the world the Hillary supporters, and some establishment Republicans, would wish for would be a Conservative Republican nominee. Why? Because such a candidate might just win!

So, the word now coming from the Demo camp is that the candidate they most fear would be Jeb Bush, and the candidate easiest to beat would be Ted Cruz. See the spin? Hoping to influence Republican decision making, their most favored Republican now becomes their “most feared.”

Remember the Uncle Remus fable about Brer Rabbit and the briar patch? Brer Fox set a trap and caught Brer Rabbit. A jubilant Brer Fox exclaimed, “You’ve sassed me for the very last time. Now I wonder what I should do with you?” Brer Rabbit replied, “Drown me! Roast me! Hang me! Do whatever you please, only please, Brer Fox, please don’t throw me into the briar patch!” “The briar patch, eh?” said Brer Fox. “What a wonderful idea!”

Grabbing up the rabbit, Brer Fox swung him around and flung him head over heels into the briar patch. Then there was silence. Brer Fox cocked one ear toward the briar patch, but he heard nothing. Brer Fox cocked the other ear toward the briar patch. Still, he heard nothing.

Then Brer Fox heard someone calling his name. He looked up, and there was Brer Rabbit sitting on a log combing his fur with a wood chip and looking smug. “I was bred and born in the briar patch, Brer Fox.” he called. “Born and bred in the briar patch!” And Brer Rabbit skipped away as merry as a cricket while Brer Fox ground his teeth in rage and went home.

So the “foxy” Democrats are saying, “Give us Cruz, give us Walker, give us anybody, but don’t give us another Bush.” And the RINOS will fall for it—again—and give them Bush. And the Democrats will skip away, merry as a cricket, while saying, “We was born and bred defeating liberal Republicans.”
