Where is the oversight we need for the transparency promised by this administration? Is this really happening? Christopher Horner is claiming it is. Horner is an author and a specialist in environmental and energy issues at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. As his position with the institute dictates, he needs to file requests for documents under the Freedom of Information Act, or FOIA, and has done so under the last three presidents.
Horner was recently interviewed by Greg Corombos with WND. What Horner had to say has probably dropped some jaws. According to the information given in the interview, Horner revealed that the current administration routinely frustrates his efforts to get access to documents that are allowed him by federal law. Furthermore, Horner claims that his requests are lost or forwarded to the wrong departments, and he reports that he has even been told he owes huge fees for this information.
Horner mentioned Jim Messina, the manager for Obama’s reelection campaign, and a former Deputy White House Chief of Staff. Horner says Messina is now using a private computer to get rid of emails and other information that shows who Obama has been doing business with and why.
According to Horner, who authored the book “The Liberal War on Transparency”, Messina uses this private computer to get around laws that give private citizens the right to see what is on public record. With a private computer, these electronic footprints are inaccessible to the public, thereby covering the tracks of anyone that doesn’t want to be seen.
