It is easy to look at all the scandals of late and think things are hopeless. We are overwhelmed at times with so much corruption within our federal government that it seems simpler to toss in the towel, throw our hands up in the air, and climb into our bunker to wait things out. I believe that’s what they would like us to do. In fact, sadly, too many Christians seem to have done that. They’re not necessarily climbing into a physical bunker, but they are removing themselves from society emotionally, which is just as bad. They have stopped working.
Why has this happened? Recapping a bit of history, we know that the counter culture movement of the 1960s literally brought cultural Marxism in the form of political correctness to the surface of society. When that happened, things began to change and change quickly. Our government has become the unofficial enforcer of political correctness, corrupting itself along the way. Tragedies further corrupted the government we had come to rely on.
America witnessed the assassination of JFK, with LBJ assuming the role of president. LBJ set about to control minorities and keep them in their place, saying, “I’ll have those niggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years.” He succeeded and created a special brand of political correctness that doesn’t even appear to be the slightest bit racist today.
Richard Nixon became the 37th president of the United States from 1969 to 1974 and was forced to step down because of the Watergate scandal. He was accused of using his office to wiretap Democrats. Sound familiar? Since then, Republicans appear to have lost their integrity.
We have also seen many within the GOP become what we refer to as RINOs (Republicans in Name Only) who act more like those on the left. Though they appeared to be conservative, over time they slowly come out as leftists. You can name them and so can I and I believe this has been clearly orchestrated by the left to bring down the GOP. This is why, except for a faithful few, the GOP now appears to be so completely impotent. They talk big, but get nothing done. Too many of them – secretly at first and now openly – cater to the left and particularly Obama.
Let’s face it; the New Left has worked very hard since before the 60s to bring about dialectic change to every aspect of American life. They’re good at what they do and it leaves the rest of us – those who live by truth and faith – exhausted and at times, feeling defeated.
What will be the ultimate outcome? Well, there are a number of scenarios that Christians believe. Some believe that as Christians work and pray in God’s power, more of the earth will come to know Him and come under His authority. They believe that eventually, because of the faithful efforts of His children, Jesus will one day return to reign physically over all the earth. They also believe that we have an obligation to do whatever we can to stand against evil and to allow God to work in and through us in order to bring about His Kingdom throughout the earth.
Others like myself believe that the system of human government will become progressively more evil throughout the world until the time is right for the final man of sin to be installed as the last world ruler. The Rapture will happen and this man of sin will gather most of the earth to himself in an effort to try to defeat God Himself when Jesus returns, but he will fail. However, I believe both scenarios are optimistic in outlook because in the end, Jesus reigns physically, as He does now spiritually.
If you are one who follows the second line of reasoning, let me caution you against simply sitting back and doing little to nothing against the evil that is pervading society today. It would be easy to say “Things will get worse before they get better, but I don’t have to worry because God is in control.” While this may be true, it also tends to provide the reason to essentially give up and become one who watches from the sidelines, removing yourself emotionally from the situation, trusting God to do what He will do. It’s one thing to cast your cares on Him. It’s another to not care at all. We dare not fall into the latter category. Don’t be a bench warmer. Get in and stay in the game!
When I was a kid, my parents planned a day when we were going to go to Corriganville, a working western film ranch located where Simi Valley, CA is now, just outside of Los Angeles. Do you think I was excited? You bet! I couldn’t wait to head over there to see where they filmed “Rin, Tin, Tin,” and a ton of other movies and TV serials! But that day was still a ways off. In the meantime, there was school and stuff to do around the house as well as homework. Sitting around daydreaming about the day I would visit Corriganville (and maybe even meet Ray “Crash” Corrigan!) would have been a complete waste of time. It was okay to be excited about seeing Corriganville and imagining what it would be like while I continued the daily routine until that day arrived where we loaded into the car and headed over to Corriganville.
I honestly believe that as Christians, this should be our balanced outlook in life. Many of us believe in the Rapture, but here is a good chance we will die before any Rapture happens. Do I just sit around my house waiting to die? Hardly. I work, hopefully doing what it is God has set aside for me to do in order that He will be glorified. If the Rapture happens, great. I’ll still be “caught up” while I’m busy working.
Part of that work I’m supposed to do means calling evil, evil. Psalm 94:16 it seems as though God asks the questions, “Who will stand up for me against evildoers? Who will take his stand for me against those who do wickedness?”
Paul tells us in Ephesians 5:11 that not only should we not join in with the works of darkness, but we should expose them. We have an obligation to point out the things in society that do not bring glory to God and there are a ton of them! We dare not remain silent even nothing changes. I believe authentic Christians are the only ones who can stand up against the evil that exists in society if we do so in God’s power.
Don’t we have an obligation to protest and petition our government when it is wrong? Yes, we do! What if all of our efforts to seek change in our government fail? Would you still be willing to try to impact society for Christ? It seems that this is exactly what God told Ezekiel. He told him to speak and to warn whether people listened or not.
The Christian needs to be working. If Christ is truly in us, then we are the Light of the world because He shines through us. The most important thing we can do is introduce people to Christ. Part of that means standing for what is right in society and bringing attention to what is wrong. If we don’t do that, doesn’t that affect our testimony?
Yes, it’s tiring, but He empowers. The only other option I’m aware of is giving up and as a Christian, that’s not an option, as far as I can tell.Don't forget to Like Freedom Outpost on Facebook and Twitter, and follow our friends at RepublicanLegion.com.
