Iran prepares to cross threshold once forbidden by Obama-era nuclear deal

The nation of Iran has been on the precipice of conflict in the Middle East for decades, often playing the role of the rowdy instigator when it comes to international affairs in the region.

During the administration of former President Barack Obama, however, a diplomatic approach by the westerners culminated in a “deal” of sorts, meant to keep the Persian nation from dipping their toes too far into nuclear development.  Iran would be allowed to make enough enriched uranium to fuel their power plants, but never enough to create nuclear weapons.

Now that President Trump has effectively rescinded that lopsided deal, Iran is about to cross a very dangerous line.

The deal has steadily unraveled since the Trump administration pulled America out of the accord last year and re-imposed tough economic sanctions on Iran, deeply cutting into its sale of crude oil abroad and sending its economy into freefall. Europe has so far been unable to offer Iran a way around the U.S. sanctions.

Over the course of the last few weeks, Iran has steadily been testing the patience of the world at large with a number of attacks on oil shipping lanes and pipelines around the Middle East.
