I often use comparisons of history to describe what is happening in our country. Here is one, and after you read it and my article you can judge for yourself.
After the demise of the Second Triumvirate, Augustus restored the outward facade of the free Republic, with governmental power vested in the Roman Senate, the executive magistrates, and the legislative assemblies. In reality, however, he retained his autocratic power over the Republic as a military dictator. By law, Augustus held a collection of powers granted to him for life by the Senate, including supreme military command, and those of tribune and censor. It took several years for Augustus to develop the framework within which a formally republican state could be led under his sole rule.
In plain terms, after he was elected as consul, Octavian brought his soldiers into the curia of the senate and basically told the senate body "This is how things are going to be."
As unprecedented and unbelievable as it sounds, right now in the senate, Harry Reid is attempting to invoke the "Nuclear option" and strip away the ability for opposition to filibuster. Reid might as well burn the original copy of the constitution on the senate floor and roast marshmallows in the flames. This is a blatant attempt to prevent the very processes that keep tyranny at bay.
I am not a proponent of violence, but this (in my opinion) calls for an armed insurrection to re-capture our nation's capital and physically arrest Reid and other democrats who are destroying our country.
It's bad enough that the Obama regime uses the constitution as toilet paper, but if Reid manages to succeed imagine what will happen, it will literally change the balance of power and nullify any opposition in the senate. Just when you think that Obama and his gang of thugs can't possibly do any more damage and flagrantly disregard the law, something like this happens.
How can anyone who calls them self a patriot allow what is happening, how much more do we have to take while our republic is virtually destroyed right before our eyes ?
How desperate must Harry Reid and the democrats be, to attempt something like this? And if he does succeed, then what is next; the Obama version of the Night of the Long Knives?
With the president's approval ratings in the toilet, it wouldn't surprise me if this is an attempt at a bloodless coup. I wonder if this regime will even allow the elections to happen in November, because as it stands, if the elections were held right now, I'm almost positive that 90 to 99% of democrats would be voted out of office.
This is why the constitution was written in the first place, to secure the people's right to not live under the yoke of tyranny. And as it looks right now, Obama and the Democrats are doing everything possible to either nullify it or are just flat-out ignoring it.
I repeat my question folks; How much more do we have to take while our republic is being destroyed right before our eyes?
UPDATE: Senate voted for nuclear reality:
Senate votes 52-48 against the ruling of the chair, thus implementing the #nuclearoption

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell slammed the power grab by Senate Democrats:
"The Majority Leader promised over and over again that he wouldn't break the rules of the Senate to change the Senate," responded McConnell. "When Democrats were in the minority they argued strenuously for the very thing they now say we will have to do without, namely the right to extend a debate on lifetime appointments. In other words they believe that one set of rules should apply to them and another set to everybody else." ... Typically 67 votes are required to change Senate rules, but under the nuclear option Democrats - who control the chamber with a 55-45 majority – would change those rules with a simple majority vote.
The Washington Times reports:
“It’s time to change. It’s time to change the Senate before this institution becomes obsolete,” Mr. Reid said as he laid the groundwork for the move at the beginning of Thursday’s session.
The key vote to change the rules came just after noon. On a 52-48 tally, Democrats voted to change the precedents of the Senate and disallow filibusters of all nominations except those for the Supreme Court. Three Democrats voted with Republicans against the rules change, signaling how contentious the matter was even within the majority party.
Republicans immediately moved to expand the change to include Supreme Court nominees, vowing that they would use Democrats’ new rules to push through their own picks to the high court the next time a Republican wins the White House. Democrats defeated that bid, but the GOP move signals a willingness to retaliate the next time it is in a position to do so.
Moments after that, Democrats used the new rules to begin to push through one of the three D.C. appeals court nominees that the GOP had blocked.
The nuclear fight comes as Democrats are reeling from attacks over Obamacare, and seems in part designed to try to find something else to rally their troops. One liberal advocacy group gleefully trumpeted the end-run as the “Reid Rule.”
“There’s a lot of nervousness on the Democrat side. They’re in a panic about Obamacare. The majority leader is desperately trying to change the subject. We want to get back on the subject,” said Sen. Mitch McConnell, Kentucky Republican.
Reid demonstrated that he is just what he claimed back in 2005. In his own words, he and the Democrats that voted for this rule change are "unAmerican."Don't forget to Like Freedom Outpost on Facebook, Google Plus, & Twitter.
