Former POTUS goes there, calls Trump ‘illegitimate’

This is likely the dog whistle that the left was looking for.

For the entirety of the last 2+ years, the liberal left has been a broken record, skipping through half of a stanza.  The first half of that stanza belies their dislike of President Trump, the second half of that stanza, hidden by the skipping, called into question Trump’s own legitimacy.

President Jimmy Carter has bumped the table.

Carter was speaking at at a Carter Center conference on human rights in Virginia with author Jon Meacham when he made the remarks. (First reported by USA Today’s Susan Page.)

“I think the interference, though not yet quantified, should be fully investigated and would show that Trump didn’t actually win the election in 2016, he lost the election,” Carter said.

“He was put into office because the Russians interfered,” he said. Carter was then asked if that meant he believed Trump was illegitimate.

The radical left has long been dancing around this issue, with their talk of impeachment and their desire for the delegitimization of Donald Trump.

The “resistance” would like nothing more than to see Donald Trump marched out of the White House in handcuffs, and their posturing and media presence do little to hide this treasonous endeavor.

By telling the democratic constituency that Trump is “illegitimate”, Carter adds his weight to the argument that democracy can be subverted by suspicion…a dangerous precedent to set in modern day America.
