Former 2020 Candidate Now Undergoing Vetting for Biden’s VP Slot

As we slowly move toward the inevitably excessive 2020 election, Joe Biden is in serious trouble.

The former Vice President has been lashing out at voters on the campaign trail, throwing temper tantrums seemingly whenever he’s fully cognizant of his surroundings.  At other times, he seems to be simply meandering from one mangled stump speech sentence to another, filling a spot within the Democratic Party that they can’t wait to have him out of.

If we’re being honest, the Democrats are stuck with the former veep now, and their only hope of salvaging the next six months is by choosing a stealer running mate for the clearly-ready-to-be-done Biden.

Reports from Washington indicate that Biden is moving quickly in that search, and a former campaign rival appears to be on top of his short list.

Senator Amy Klobuchar, Democrat of Minnesota, has been asked by Joe Biden to undergo a formal vetting to be considered as his vice presidential running mate, one of several potential contenders now being scrutinized by his aides ahead of a final decision, according to people familiar with the moves.

In an interview with Stephen Colbert on Thursday night, Biden said “no one’s been vetted yet by the team” but confirmed the initial preliminary outreach to gauge interest is “coming to an end now.”

Biden said the “invasive” vetting process will soon begin.

When pressed on Klobuchar’s chances of making his running mate “short list,” Biden responded positively: “Amy’s first rate, don’t get me wrong.”

The non-answer was quickly made moot by other reports.

The request for information from potential running mates like Klobuchar “is underway,” a senior Biden campaign aide tells CBS News. If a potential contender consents, she should be poised to undergo a rigorous multi-week review of her public and private life and work by a hand-picked group of Biden confidantes, who will review tax returns, public speeches, voting records, past personal relationships and potentially scandalous details from her past.

Klobuchar joins a fairly long shortlist, especially for being so close to the actual election, with the Gopher State Democrat representing the most well-known candidate by far.
