Left-wing billionaire Tom Steyer is touring the country on his “Need to Impeach” campaign aimed squarely at President Donald Trump, but it seems the mega-rich activists is floundering in his attempt and is unable to garner support from even the most left-wing Democrats.
Democrat Sen. Elizabeth Warren just outright told the media that she did not agree with the effort to impeach Trump:
“Another business executive, Tom Steyer, has a campaign afoot to impeach the president. Do you support Tom Steyer?” Andrew Ross Sorkin of the New York Times queried.
“Nope,” Warren answered.
The stinging rebuke of Steyer’s main initiative, which he has poured his fortune into, shows the continued failure of the far left to rally Dems to the impeachment cause.
"If not even leftist Elizabeth Warren can get on board with your liberal crusade, it's probably time to call it a day,” said Daniel Turner, Executive Director of Power the Future. “But Tom Steyer has no intention of giving up on his impeachment movement because he intends to keep using it to prop up his fringe environmentalist agenda and possibly even prep for a 2020 run."
In fact, many Democrats have balked at the idea of impeachment.
“Warren's comments reflect the prevailing attitude among notable Democrats in Congress, who have tamped down talk of impeachment ahead of the midterms. Democratic leaders worry the divisive notion could turn away the independent and Republican voters they need to win swing districts and take a House majority in November.
A few Democratic members of Congress, notably Rep. Maxine Waters of California, support booting Trump from office. But the vast majority of the party's lawmakers and candidates in battleground races oppose impeachment as of now.”
The leftist billionaire may soon have to find a new hobby or at least a new excuse to mask his potential 2020 run.
