There has been no shortage of radicalization taking place here on American soil as of late, with ordinary citizens turning in performances not unlike those of the late 1850’s and early 1860’s.
It is truly a scary time for the United States. Political hatred and discrimination are reaching levels that our modern society has never seen before and, thanks to the “cancel culture” of the far left, the historical record leading up to the American Civil War of the 19th century is being removed from our society. The warning labels are being torn off, leaving the citizenry of this fine country to seemingly fend for themselves in the dire times.
Worse still – these lessons of the past are being eschewed by those who should know better, in favor of radicalism and violence.
Even the esteemed have found themselves rummaging around in the muck for vitriol.
Speaking recently on CNN, Dr. Cornel West had the following to say:
“This is why if things don’t work the way the system is we got to hit the streets, we’ve got to go to jail. That’s exactly what Out Now is all about. Next Saturday, every Saturday it’s going to be like Puerto Rico. It’s going to like Hong Kong.
“The people have to speak with their feet if the election political system is too weak. The Republicans are too cowardly; the Democrats not moving fast enough. And with Biden using the language he used, he disqualifies himself. Thank God for brother Bernie. You just disqualified yourself in having any moral authority when it comes to this crime against humanity.”
Violence begets violence and hate begets hate. Our nation has been given the tools and the perspective to work past this latest hiccup of democracy, but encouraging this sort of radical response will only galvanize the opinions of those who have yet had the opportunity to listen and learn.
We can only hope that Dr. West’s prophecy does not bear fruit.
