The weasel-like visage that many Americans conjure when asked to envision their elected representatives in Washington DC is often well-earned, as these political vermin always seems to be traipsing around in the proverbial shadows looking for some pork-fat to skim for themselves.
During the hyperbolic huffing and puffing of impeachment, this every-man-for-himself schtick gets a turbo charge. We see Democrats and Republicans practically at one another’s throats, all the while ignoring the basic needs and wants of their constituents.
The most prolific of these vermin-esque characters has been House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff. Schiff, with assistance by his fellow House Democrats, has successfully resisted bringing their impeachment “inquiry” out from the shadows for as long as possible in hopes of keeping the Republicans in the dark.
Now that Schiff is finally beginning public hearings next week, however, it could be the chairman who’ll find himself under the magnifying glass.
The top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee has formally requested that the panel’s chairman, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., testify in a closed-door setting as part of the impeachment inquiry against President Trump.
Fox News has obtained a letter written by committee Ranking Member Devin Nunes, R-Calif., who demanded that Schiff appear for a deposition in private before lawmakers.
The letter was scathing.
“On November 6th, you announced the beginning of public hearings associated with the Democratic Party’s partisan impeachment inquiry into President Donald J. Trump,” Nunes wrote Friday. “Based on the precedent and lack of jurisdiction, the House Intelligence Committee should not take the lead in conducting such hearings; however, by now the American people know your desire to see the duly-elected president removed from office outweighs your sense of responsibility to running a functioning intelligence oversight committee.
“Prior to the start of your public show trial next week, at least one additional closed-door deposition must take place,” he continued. “Specifically, I request that you sit for a closed-door deposition before the House Intelligence, Foreign Affairs and Oversight Committees.”
Adam Schiff has been one of the more controversial figures in the “formal impeachment inquiry” from the start, having infamously fictionalized a conversation between President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky during one of the earliest public hearings.
That abominable behavior saw a motion to censure Schiff reach the House floor.Don't forget to Like Freedom Outpost on Facebook and Twitter, and follow our friends at RepublicanLegion.com.
