Democrats have long been hanging their hat on the RussiaGate conspiracy theory, and the sheer scope of their investigation into the hypothetical hyperbole is quite telling.
For years now, the left has been insistent on the idea that President Trump is somehow, some way, being manipulated by the Russian government. At times, they believed that this was a willing relationship between the White House and the Kremlin, pushing a narrative that would indicate treason on the part of the President.
At other times, they’ve insinuated that Trump himself was being blackmailed by Russia with salacious material involving the Commander in Chief and Muscovite prostitutes.
There were even rumors at one point that the President was somehow an “unwilling participant” in Russia’s scheme.
This spray-and-pray smattering of asinine accusations has led the liberal left down many a winding path to discover something, anything, that they can attack the Trump with.
The latest avenue of aggression includes attempting to reveal whatever they believe is hiding within Donald Trump’s tax returns…something that just got a lot closer to reality.
President Trump’s favorite bank, Deutsche Bank, pretty much just confirmed in public that it’s got copies of Trump’s tax returns stashed away in its files.
And that’s a problem for Trump: Because House Democrats are fighting a legal battle to get inside Deutsche’s vaults, and they stand a chance of winning before the 2020 election.
The apparent admission brings new urgency to the legal clash over Deutsche, which worked more closely with Trump than any other bank over two decades and is thought to hold a detailed portrait of his business empire within its extensive records.
Outside experts have long thought Deutsche’s files could be even more revealing than Trump’s tax returns. Now, seemingly, they won’t have to choose: They can just get both through Deutsche.
Much like the impeachment fight currently tearing the democratic party apart, there is a chance that this attempt to shame or delegitimize the President could backfire horribly – and just in time for voters to cast their ballots in 2020.
