There have been plenty of times during this lengthy and combative “formal impeachment inquiry” in which we believed the Democrats had crossed a line; a point of no return. Today, however, is the real deal.
This morning, House Democratic leaders took to the stage to announce that they were introducing two articles of impeachment against Donald J. Trump, the 45th President of these United States.
House Democrats announced two articles of impeachment Tuesday against President Donald Trump — abuse of power and obstruction of Congress — pushing toward historic votes over charges he threatened the integrity of the U.S. election system and endangered national security in his dealings with Ukraine.
The Democrats attempted to create an air of sobriety around the announcement, with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi doubling down on her somber schtick. House Judiciary Chair Jerry Nadler followed suit.
″ Our president holds the ultimate public trust. When he betrays that trust and puts himself before country, he endangers the Constitution; he endangers our democracy; he endangers our national security,” said Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., the Judiciary chairman, announcing the charges before a portrait of George Washington. “Our next election is at risk. … That is why we must act now.”
Of course, it must be noted that there are currently no scenarios in which the impeachment itself moves past the Senate, unless a large number of Republicans suddenly wake up on the other side of the bed and betray their constituents’ wishes – a maneuver that would be heralded as unprecedented and bizarre.
The futility of the coming weeks will certainly be something to behold, and we as a nation can only pray for a speedy end to the shenanigans, so that our elected officials can get back to work.Don't forget to Like Freedom Outpost on Facebook and Twitter, and follow our friends at RepublicanLegion.com.
