Days after absurd 'toilet water' claim, Vice President arrives at detention facility

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez loves attention, this much we know, but one of the freshman Congresswoman's latest stunts has prompted serious action from the Executive Branch.

AOC has been one of the more vocal opponents of Donald Trump during her brief time on Capitol Hill, hammering the President at every possible turn.  Her constant, predictable anti-Trump tirades have made her the poster child for the "resistance", and propelled her to cult-icon status among millennial voters.

But Ocasio-Cortez hasn't always gotten it right, and her rabid fandom need to know that.

For instance, just days ago the young lawmaker visited a migrant detention facility after taking to social media to offensively compare the facilities to concentration camps.  During her time there, AOC claimed that migrant women were being told to drink "from the toilet", a claim that was swiftly debunked when it was revealed that she was referring to combination sink/toilet units similar to what's found in municipal jails around the nation.

Nevertheless, the criticism sparked an urgent response from the White House, who sent Vice President Mike Pence to investigate.

Vice President Mike Pence went to U.S.-Mexico border Friday amid allegations that migrants are being held in squalid conditions. However, he told a story that's different from the one being told by Democrats and some government inspectors.

Pence spent hours touring Border Patrol facilities, including the tent city in Donna, just outside McAllen, Texas, where he and his entourage saw migrants sleeping on the floor. Five Republican senators were with him, but not a single Democrat accepted the invitation to come along.

Pence's visit comes on the heels of a scathing report from the Office of Inspector General, where one manager called the situation at Border Patrol facilities "a ticking time bomb." At least five migrant children have died in government custody since September.

The crowding of these facilities has come under fire in recent weeks, with republican lawmakers lambasting their democratic counterparts over their unwillingness to consider legislation regarding immigration - an act of "resistance" protest that has allowed the humanitarian crisis on the border to spiral into despair.
