During the holidays, Chicago, which is criminally controlled by both street thugs and politicians in suits who infringe upon the God-given right of their citizenry to keep and bear arms, saw the number of shooting victims rise over 4,300 for 2016.
According to the Chicago Tribune at the writing of this article, Chicago has seen 4,328 shooting victims in 2016, compared to 2,989 shooting victims in 2015. That's an increase of over 1,300!
Over the holiday weekend, at least 50 people were shot, and 12 of those were fatal.
Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson's called the shootings "unacceptable" at a press conference on Monday.
He said most of the people were targeted for shooting, but not all of them.
"They were targeted knowing fully well that individuals would be at homes of family and friends celebrating the holiday," Johnson said.
He then called for tougher punishments for those who engage in these crimes.
"These gun offenders have repeatedly shown us that they're not going to play by society's rules," Johnson said.
Well, of course. There are several things to consider. First, the politicians need to stop infringing on the rights of the people to own, keep and bear their arms wherever they go to defend themselves against the criminal element in society.
Second, when these criminals are caught and convicted, if they have engaged in premeditated murder, they should receive a swift public execution as punishment. As Johnson said, if they are not going to play by society's rules, then, in my opinion, they have no business being in society and they certainly have no business being kept up behind bars by society.
Chicago has consistently demonstrated why gun control does not work.
Jennifer Cruz reminds us of shootings earlier in 2016.
"While the colder temperatures of the winter months typically bring less violence in the city, holiday weekends almost always see a spike in shootings," she writes. "With 69 victims and six fatalities, Memorial Day weekend has, thus far, seen the greatest number of shooting victims in a single weekend this year, but Labor Day weekend proved the deadliest, claiming 13 lives of the weekend's 65 shooting victims. Likewise, Independence Day weekend trailed close behind, with 66 shooting victims and five fatalities."
Chicago is one of many metropolitan areas in the US with lots of gun control in place, but with equally high murder rates. Even with the US ranking first in the world in terms of numbers of gun ownership, she is still not in the top 100 murder rate. The only reason our numbers are as high as they are is due to these heavily socialist controlled metropolitan cities.Don't forget to Like Freedom Outpost on Facebook, Google Plus, & Twitter.
